Hi all,
Just returned last night(2-2-2002)from Bogota. It was as usual a long flight to LAX. Since I was bringing my new wife and son with me I was able to tolerate it pretty well. It will be a few days before I post much more than this. It takes time to get settled in after being gone for a month. To let you all know, everything from the wedding to both embassy visits and clearance through immigrations in Atlanta, Ga. went very smoothly. We did not have one problem and were treated very well by all govt. personel.
More later,
Fred

Hi all,
We are getting settled in pretty well.
My sweety has already transformed my bachelor pad into a home. My new son likes everything. I can hardly wait to take them both out for some real sight seeing. I still need to go to Social Security and get their paperwork going for #'s.
We have reorganized furniture and are still unpacking. Everyone is happy and relieved to be here after the long trip. Grocery shopping, of the type found here, is an experience. We are looking for a good source for plantains. More needs to be done to get settled in, I think about two weeks or so for the immediate initial adjustments. Fortunatley most needed stores and such are close by.
My feet are doing better. The left one is pretty good but the right one is still a concern. I go to see the doctor tomorrow and should start therapy next week.
I'll try to keep you all posted on progress. So far no problems. Both my wife and son are having a bit of a bout with the local bugs so aren't feeling well at this minute. That will pass in a couple days. Right now everything is great. Will start in a week or two with ESL classes. School for my son is still a question. He can't start till he has a SS#, by that time the school year will almost be over, so I may not start him till Sept.
In the next couple of days I should be able to get some wedding pictures posted.
Because I am not working I was able to stay in Cali with my wife's family between the 1st and 2nd embassy visits, altogether I was in Colombia almost a month. It was really great to be able to spend time with her family. It also helped them to get to know me a bit better, which eased thier minds a bit about me taking thier daughter and grandson away.
Hasta luego
Fred
