Ana Lucia and I went on a four day three night trip to San Andres from Costa Rica. For $750 everything was included, SA-CR round-trip air fare, three nights at the Aquarieum decameron Hotel (there were five hotels to choose from and the only variable in price was which hotel you chose), all food and all drinks, alcohol included.

One selling point was you could choose between restaurants and facilities at any of the five hotels. Decameron did provide transportation between them but it was probelmatic (not enough buses ran and not often enough). The entertainment at the Aquarium was good...a different show each night. I was the only gringo and of course ana Lucia got chosen to go on stage.

The guy asked if I talked Spanish. I said I hoped so since my girl friend didn't speak any English. He asked us how long we'd been dating. Ana Lucia said 26 months and I said since 10AM this morning.

There were losts of side trips available at an additional cost. We did an island tour and also a boat trip to neighhboring keys (Cay Aquario and Cay (I forget) both cays inhabited only by tourists...small island with nice beaches.

It was pretty cool but next time I'd just pick a hotel and do it a la carte...picking restaurants as I wanted. The Aquarium had a fancy sea food restaurant, La Bruja, which was our best meal. They also had a buffet for breakfast and lunch and the other dinner. One night we took the bus to Decameron San Luis to eat at an unspectacular Japanese restaurant. I'm not even sure is was Japanese food. Getting there and back was inconvenient and we paid $7.50 for a cab back rather than wait 3 hours for the free bus.

As for our relationship, we aren't married, or even engaged. We plan to see each other in December. If she gets her tourist visa, she'll come to Phoenix...if not we'll probably go to Medellin. We've got a ton of things in common, I know I'll never find anyone who matches closer than she does but I'm scared of a relationship after being wrong twice.

And Ana Lucia has worked long and hard to establish herself in Costa Rica. She's not sure if she's ready to place her life into my hands and trust me completely.

Everything went really well between us. She told me that if her daughter comes to the US, I'll always come first and she'll realize that her daughter needs to fit into our life, not the opposite.

She jogs, and her religious views are very non dogmatic. Since I'm Jewish, this is important but I really have only know women who don't question anything or have any original beliefs. She's a hard worker and we can talk a little in English. So, we'll wait and see.

Sounds like you had a great time Jim. Good luck with Ana Lucia, she sounds like a gem.

Was San Andres all it's cracked up to be?

Three hours wait for a free bus? How about spending $.40 and take the regular bus? It runs about every 20 seconds and brings you all over the island.

Not at 8PM it didn't. My only option was a $7.50 cab ride.

Thanks Jim but can you give us some detailed information on Hotels, places of interest, etc? What about going to San Andres solo? Sources say there are a lot of beautiful girls in San Andreas - Beyonce look-a-likes looking to meet Gringos.
