JM , have you ever taken a cold shower in Bogota?

Do any of you remember the electrical thingys in Bogota they hook on the shower head to warm the water? I'm lucky a friend told me about it or I would've fried on the 1st try. It's exposed electrical wires and their shower heads can be a bit lower than in the US. Pfizzzz...

Yeah,
We installed one in my mother in laws home. We bought it at Exito. We fried the first one when we tried to use it when there was no water. Cali had a problem in much of the city with people not having water in their homes for several weeks while my wife was visiting.

Anyway, my wife was able to exchange the fried one and the electrican installed the new one, and with the flip of a switch we had a hot shower. I'm not looking forward to paying for the extra electricity it will cost. Fortunately some people really prefer the showers without the heated water.

No, I believe when I was in Bogota HT I stayed where the showers were heated. That could be unpleasant. I much prefer the climate in Cali.

Oh, by the way the electrician and his helper did the necessary plumbing and electrical work, including several visits for about $25. I was delighted with that.

I stayed at a place in Bogota where the hot water was simply down for a day or 2. Cold enough to make BabyTonk look like a woman

Hahaha, or the huevoes crawl back up in your body......

We call them Widow Makers, I have been using them for years till I built a rather complicated solar water heater....

I for one DO NOT want cold water on my body, I feel like the pores of the skin close up and I do not get a good shower.....

If I have to I will warm up a couple of quarts of water on the stove and throw it in a 5 gallon bucket of tap or well water....

And use a soup bowl to dip it with....

Thanks for sharing your experiences. Do you have any update since it is now JUly? May I ask what her age is since you said she was young?

Is Palmira close to Cali? What made you choose this city to visit compared to others?

AJ
