Not all of us have the ability to pack up and move to Colombia. Although I would concur that is the best way to learn Spanish. Don't get too good though or the women won't think you are a gringo.

I will be taking 4 hours of spanish a day in Buenos Aires in about a week.

I am not good enough to dream in spanish only dream of them. Although, I have found myself noticing mistakes in emails I have received from Latinas.

I can read and write the language fairly well. It is in conversations when it is muy rapido where I struggle. I think Pimsleur has helped me greatly. But I have probably given up and restarted 20 times. And each time I restart it is a little easier. I think some of it is actually sinking in.

Calipro thanks for the link. My next goal is to be able to understand the enthusiastic people on that site.

Rex, you loaded it on the ipod? How did you do that? I have the pimsleur one but, it's on cassette. I got it cheap on e-bay. Do I need the cd version to load it on ipod?

I am in the same bind. I bought Pimsleur one and two on cassettes(I didn't get them cheaply), but I wish I had bought them on CD so I could put them on my ipod. At some point you need it digitally placed on the computer with the ipod software and then you can upload to your ipod.

If there is a way to do it with cassettes, it is beyond my abilities.

One of my neighbors had the set on CD. That is the first set that has about 10 to 11 Cd's in it. I do not remember how many there were. Those are very easy to load, even for me and that was my first time doing anything on an IPOD. There is a way to load cassettes but the process is more work than it is worth and the sound quality is compromised. That is why i am trying to get someone on this board to let me borrow there 2nd set. I also use cassettes in my car from various other companies. One that i have and use regularly is from Penton. It is pretty good but the format on the tapes i have, has more to do with rote memory. They do help though and have corresponding translation for everything. Still i think that Pimsleurs is better for conversational Spanish which is probably the first thing that needs to be learned. Last night i was talking with a woman from Peru, that has no English skills, and i talked with her for over an hour. Granted my skills are not up to Toastmaster level by any degree but still i could understand her and be understood by her so things are progressing. I want more!!! This has become a passion for me now.

Rex B I am just finishing reviewing the 2nd set. PM me maybe we can figure something out, I have exchanged with other members before.. Let me finish with the 2nd set. I have to upload the last 6 lesson on my ipod and we can figure out an exchange. I got that thing going in my car 24 / 7 just to keep from losing what I have learned!!! WHat you need is an IPOD and an hardwire to your car stereo for an ipod, than it goes everywhere with you !!

Well I Agree with GARY and LASTLION on this one...You wanna learn this idioma then go and don`t be scarred to make mystakes, it will be better to make mystakes because you`ll always meet somebody who will be willing to correct you.....I remember when I was trying to learn english, I was making so much mystakes but I didn`t give a **** and people were correcting me and still make mystakes so....

By the way it`s really good to come back on track with the board

Mornin' Alex,

The key here is that you seem to like it. I would say use it, learn as much as you can from it, and then when you're ready you can on to the next step.

If you read back through the archives, you'll see quite a bit of input as to the language programs that guys seem to enjoy using, and that work.

There is no substitute for immersion IMHO, but starting somewhere is certaily better than not starting at all.

I did look at Visual Link, and it seems interactive enough that you'll probably get the gist of most of the essential basics. Keep on, keepin' on!
