Talking

I just found another reason to like my favorite Windows text editor, TextPad. This shareware product can be downloaded for evaluation at www.textpad.com. I usually use MS Word when writing in English, but I haven't figured out a straight-forward way of getting Microsoft's Spanish dictionary. The TextPad dictionaries for English and Spanish are freely available, and the preferences menu in that program allows you to select between these languages. Obviously a spell checker will not, by itself, make you better at Spanish. It will, however, help you make fewer dumb mistakes with your correspondents, and I feel that, used with discipline, a spell checker can be a useful learning tool.

Fred,

If you have Word 2000, Microsoft has a product called Visual Keyboard. It is not a "dictionary", nor is it translation software. It is a tool that enables you to type in a foreign language.

For more information, go to
