I'm learning spanish on my own now with a dictionary and a few spanish text books I bought for a dollar each at a used book store. It's working very well.

I'm talking to a new lady now, one from Barranquilla, and we talk on the phone. That's really forcing me to learn spanish. I'm still struggling with verbs.

This girl's accent in english is very beautiful. They don't speak english like mexican girls, their accent is very sexy. Her spanish is really nice also.

Don't forget Pimsleur, if you can find them used or at the library.

The next step is a Junior College Spanish course. They are inexpensive and will teach you the basic grammatical structure. Since you are motivated to speak Spanish, this little bit of help should go a long way.

When you understand basic grammar and sentence structure, your growth in language aquisition is exponential.

I spoke with a language teacher in Medellin about which method he prefers to teach and he believes that learning a foreign language conversationally is best, at least at first. He pointed out that children learn a language this method so why shouldn't adults too. Later, grammar, sentence structure, etc., are very helpful and in fact, necessary to become fluent in any language.

With that in mind, I would recommend Pimsleur to begin with. You can also find them available on shareware sites such as www.limeware.com . I know a happy tacaņo camper who has all the lessons downloaded into his iPod.
