Default What Does it Mean?

Could use a bit of help on this one guys! I just don’t get it! Don’t mean to complain or anything but my gal is really beginning to tick me off.

Ok, here is a bit of background. Ever since we first met she has constantly talked about another guy. Well not talked about really, but she uses his name all the time. It seems that every time she goes somewhere or is thinking about going somewhere she has to mention his name.

Can’t help envying the guy though, because I have NEVER had that affect on a woman. To be fair, once in a while I hear other guys mention his name. He is probably a switch hitter…AC/DC if you get my drift.

Who the hell is this Joe?

In fact she has a pet name (Boy) for him or he really is much younger in age than she is. Just when I thought I could handle this “Joe Boy”, “Joe Boy”, crap when she is going anywhere, she now uses other guys’ names when I tell her that I am going somewhere. “Joe, Tom, Ben”, "Joe, Tom, Ben”!

At least she hasn’t said “and Jerry” ……but it is probably just a matter of time until she says that *******'s name too.

Thank goodness she just uses those names when she's going!!!

If she was also calling out their names when she was coming you'd really get a complex!!!

Jib, you've got me It's probably just an expression or something. Is she pronouncing it as if it was English? I'd just ask her, but I'd bet you already have...

We have lots of expressions in English that use people's names. My guess is they do in Spanish as well.

One thing I miss on this Board is the street Spanish some always seemed to have questions about. I can't remember the last time somebody had questions about the language. Is everybody fluent or something?

We have expressions in English that don't translate into Spanish and vice versa. I really like learning Spanish expressions. I love the expression they have for whirlwind romances "Una escoba nueva siempre barre bien"...A new broom always sweeps well.

I think Ciza pegged Jib's humor

Bottom line? Where's the Spanish questions on the Board?

Not sure what the context is LL. Bom Bom is our equivilant of the Bon Bon candy. Check out the Mana lyrics for El Rey Tiburon. While listening to the song last year J asked me if I knew what bom bom meant in Spanish. Said I didn't know and she told me.

Hell of a way to learn small things in Spanish...with a latina. Who'd have ever guessed?
