Default Call Colombia using Vonage for a flat fee of $39.99 a month

Call those Colombiana's for next to nothing with clear reception (99.8 percent of the time)

Vonage (vonage.com) just announced a new Latin America service that includes many cities in Colombia for a flat fee of $39.99 a month, other cities not in the plan are 10 cents per min.

Hook a Vonage phone up in Colombia (need broadband) and calls from Colombia to many countries are free including U.S., Canada, UK. (depending on your plan)

Been using it here for years, have 3 lines and works great, except when 3 computers are running and someone is downloading something.

Hey Bob,

Can you give us a link to this Vonage offer please. I can't find it on the site? Maybe I am tired. Thanks Dude.

I wonder if the offer includes cell phones too? Where is the link BOB? I am very curious! Do you have to designate a city or country or does is include all of LAM?

I'm sure it doesn't include cell phones, I was thinking that after I made the post. (at: (2:00 AM)

I'll go bacK through my e-mails and find the service announcement they sent me and post the link.

OK, here is the link, any existing Vonage customers should have received the same customer service announcement.

Hi Bob,

I didn't see the $40 fee you mentioned rather a per minute charge at this LINK.

A less expensive* way is to bring one of Vonage's routers with you and hook it up at your novia's home with cable internet service. Vonage has an unlimited service for $25 per month and 500 minutes for $15 per month. Tax adds on another $5.

*Cable internet has to be factored in.

Skype is another way to go which is pay as you go but from my experiences it is not as reliable as Vonage.

Tino, (OMA is the best)

That web page link given is actually advertisement for existing customers already having a Vonage plan and are the rates for calling additional services.

This is included in the link page given about in the middle of the page in smaller print: Please note: Per month fee is in addition to your monthly fee and is available only on the $24.99 residential unlimited plan.†

I have Lingo (#2 to Vonage) and their offer is a little cheaper I think. I considered it but according to my abacus, it's still more expensive than a calling card. And unless you have service with another phone, you're confined to your home phone (or whatever phone you have the service on.) This would prevent me from calling mi amor from work, which I do almost every day for 3.9 cents a minute. In my view, it's only worth it if you use a helluvalot of minutes (like Bob) and/or if the party you're calling has Vonage or whatever VoIP you use.

Btw, Lingo is only about 10 or 12 cents a minute without a plan. I assume Vonage has a similar rate.

Hi Bob,

Just got off the phone with Vonage. They can't change my plan yet because I pay yearly....if you can belive it they have not done the programing required for my situation yet.

The Latin plan is an additional $15 on top of the $24.99 per month bringing it to $39.99 per month. The connection with Vonage to Colombia is usually better and more reliable than most of the cards and other voip services. Once I get this activated it will be great for my wife...no jacking around with cards or computers etc. Thanks for the info Bob!
Happy Trails! MM

Ok guys I forgot to post an update on the "Unlimited calling" with Vonage that Bob posted about to Bogotá. I did get the "Enhanced world" activated finally and it is working great! I find Vonage to offer better quality calls than cards and the computer voip services I was using previously. My wife now calls home to Bogotá at her leisure by simply dialling the phone...no cards no computers just a simple call.... no biggie but it sure is a real nice convenience. Later, MM.
