HonkyT hates dealing with anything to do with phone companies and I hate it even worse after trying to deal with UnionTelecard trying to get what I understand is the best card for a fair price....the Colombianita card. Come on Gringos and newbies....give me a phone # or secure web site where this card can be purchased without me spending about 1 hour on the net, another hour on the phone getting the runaround, getting cut off, and then after 20 min on hold again...5:00 comes around and the recorder says...we're outa here...call back. Right! Any leads??? Thanks!

Thumbs down

HonkyTonk,

Here's the URL for the Colombianita phone card:

http://www.sotb.com/phone_eng.html

By the way, I ordered this card a couple of weeks ago. I've used it twice. Both times I had bad connections - connections so bad that I had to hang up and call my friend using a different connection.

I do not recommend this card.

Cool

Damn, now if that don't beat all HT thinks he's got this whole calling card bullshoot figured out by talking to Colombianas who universally say Colombianita! Colombianita! Colombianita! Am I one to argue with a 9? So now he's ready to be CoolTonk and have THE card to hear sweet, clear voices from the kidnapping capital. MMMmmmmmmmm...... But....nooooOOOOOoooo!! Now Chao gets on here and lays some phone card reality on me and I now an DumbassTonk I'm not sure whether to shoot the messenger or bite the bullet and pay ATT their outrageous .87 per minute...right So now what do we all do? We're all fuc..screwed! This whole Phone Topic is just one viscous circle. There is no end to our quest for a good calling card, and a means to buy it.

BTW: I agree the Freedom Card left much to be desired. So now what? If we want to talk to them do we need to go there? Not a bad idea It's cheaper for me to fly there than use ATT.

I think one company owns this whole business and the more difficult they make it for us...the more $ they make. They're not happy till we try all the cards and have dropped calls left and right. I need a beer

Thumbs up

Hi HT,
I do not know if you want to use a card as personal preference but if not and if you can use this number in your area try it.
10-16-868 plus of course -011-57-2-***-****.
I just received my phone bill. Using that number cost me 19 cents a minute calling @ 7PM my time,PDT. This # came from Jim in another post. He uses it in AZ and I use in CA.
The quality is generally good. I have been cut off a few times and sometimes there seems to be a slight echo? on the line. Since there isn't an additional connect charge, I hang up and redial which usually fixes the problem.

Fred..thanks. 10-10 and all the other #'s like this don't work in CowHump Ga. This whole calling thing has been a major headache to me. I've even had my local phone co. and ATT on a 3 way trying to get some sort of a reasonable emergency rate and it's a no go. Calling cards are my only option and quality is a crap shoot. Think I'll get me a big old ball of string and a couple of tin cans.......

Talking

AT&T charges 33 cents per minute. You can call whenever you want, as often as you want.

Thanks, that 1-Rate plan was the one I was trying to get. ATT said the problem was my local phone co., my local phone co. said it was ATT...the usual phone co. bull**** runaround. So, let's see who's fulla**** 3 way call and guess who hemmed and hawed and evaded all hardball questions and gave slippery sliding answers to everydamnthing....give up? ATT. I finally told ATT that what they were actually telling me with all these sidesteppping answers is that you just plain don't offer it to my local phone co. because you just don't...right?? Answer....Yes.

I just love long distance carriers I will try the phone # listed in the ATT 1-Rate web site but it says not available in all areas. HT is usually an easy going Gringo until I am kept from hearing sweet, non English speaking voices from far away countries with latin accents I do prefer to have these voices sound natural and not like they come from a 5 gal. bucket or like an old 45rpm record that was used as a frisbee in Boystown.

Cool

HT, take a chill pill bro, check out www.phonecards-prepaid.com. I've used them on several occasions and it's pretty good. Allyou have to do is type in the country calling from and calling to, and then choose the city ie:Cali, Bogata etc., another sreen pops up with the lowest rate to your selected city, and wala you'll have your card e-mailed to you with access numbers. Let me know how it works out. Chao Roundhouse
