Can someone recommend an ATM card or a bank whose ATM card works in Colombia? I went there earlier this month, and mine wouldn't work. I tried different ATM's at different locations.

Does your ATM card have a Visa symbol or a Mastercard symbol on the back? Mine did and it worked great down there.

I need to know if there are any Y2K problems
that are affecting use of the ATMS currently.
On all of my previous trips I used them and received the best rate of exchange.

My ATM card has a VISA symbol on the front, and Moneymaker, Cirrus, and Pulse symbols on the back. It wouldn't work anywhere I tried in Bogota. Maybe it's something to do with my bank.

I saw Cirrus and Pulse on the ATM's down there.

When I was there in Colombia (Jan. 2 - 13, 2000), there were no Y2K problems that I was aware of.

I've used ATM cards with Plus and Cirrus on the back from 3 different banks. The Cirrus ATMs are all over the place and you can find some Plus machines in Bogota, but it's pretty tough to find them in Cali. If you have problems, be sure that you have a 4-digit PIN which is the international standard. The card should work anywhere that's part of the network. If it doesn't, I'd ask your bank about it. You get the best exchange rate with the ATMs (or by credit card as long as it's not one of the banks that have recently started charging an extra 3% beyond what they pay for changing to dollars -- if yours is one of those, get a new credit card!)
