Default Bogota Real Estate!

I have been debating over medellin for awhile, right now I am really just interested in buying something outside of the U.S.A. I liked bogota, but not sure how much of the weather I can handle! Nelson at LAI gave me a contact and so did charlie, for agents down there!

Does anyone here own a place there? It seams Bogota is more expensive than Medellin, understandably because of the businees and being the capital! I still prefer the climate in Medellin and the natural beauty surrounding it.

But I am looking for tips and men who have looked in Bogota to buy apartments or have bought some!

Anyone have 2 cents to throw in on investment value in Bogota Versus Medellin? Specifically on equity growth. I might rent it to cool gringos. But I wont plan on making a million that way!

I only started liking Bogota lately because no matter how many gringos end up there, they will blend in better there than Medellin!

Oh yaa, I still don't know Bogota like medellin or cali, but what are the best barrio names something in the north? Close to the mountains, Parke 93 Zona Rosa??? Anyone???

Thumbs up Re: Bogota Real Estate!

It is hard to beat Bogota for 'all the things'. Great flights, easy in and out. I predict Bogota will be the hub for all of Latin America for the next 20 years easy. I don't know any real estate people there so I'd trust Nelson's recommendations. Bogota Colombia--you just can't go wrong. I say buy new construction or pound the pavement and ask the Porteros 'whats for sale' and buy a used apartment/flat ....a place near Parque 93. But I can refer people in Cali and Medellin and Rio. Let me know!

That is what I have been thinking! Good call Ray! I also agree in Colombia, pound the pavement! I found my top aprtment in Poblado Medellin, just by seeing a sign and talking with the Porteria. 1600 sq. ft apartment 3 bdrs. 3 baths and service room(about 8 years old) second to top floor of building with Amazing views $150K! I also found new constructionm about the same, but with ****ty view of buidling next door or bottom level apartment or and about 900-1000 sq.ft! Although there are much less expensive places there, I am too used to large amercian style rooms to not have one there, most bdrs top out at 11 x10 and living rooms not much bigger in the new constrcution! Unless you got 200+K

That is why I am posting this thread I am looking for a man on the street! I would use and agent to make sure the money in the escrow account got handled properly! But there could be a nice reward for the man on the street!

LL,

You are probably aware of this but you run the likely risk of spending more for a property if the sellers are aware that you are a Gringo. If you can find a trusted local to act on your behalf I think you would avoid the "Gringo tax".

Tinto, most definetely, and I would really like to see if anyone here has a good man on the street in Bogota.

I would really like to compare some property I am looking at in Medellin versus Bogota!
