Capital One already gets a black mark in my book. My card was declined this morning. I had never even used it and decided to break it in while here waiting for my flight this morning. Had to use another card. I called them and they said I never activated it, but I did.

I was a bit frustrated and told them that is not a good way to start off. I was not happy to say the least.... I hope this is not a sign of bad things to come. I guess it could have been a mistake. I will find out when I get to Philly and try to use it later this morning.

Anyway, I am outta here....

The only respect I ever get from credit card companies is from my AMEX company. My credit score is touching on 800 to this day. But it seams to me that My capitol one, Us Bank & Wells Fargo cards , they seam to careless if I drop them.. Their rates are all way out of control, their customer service all sucks... I really just use them for the miles..

I have had the Amex, Capitol one and Wells card for over 10 years, never a late payment and 95% of the time they get paid off at the end of the month...

AMEX charges you $25 or $35 just to get the card, don't they? They use this to pay their service representatives quite a bit more that more economical card companies. I referee football with someone who works for AMEX in Phoenix. They are a GREAT company to work for. Very employee friendly.

I personally am too cheap to pay an annual fee to anyone but I have great respect for AMEX.

Capital One has a worldwide toll free number which I used a couple of times to resolve issues. Having a toll free international number is also something a traveler should look for. Of course, I need to pay for the cell phone minutes so it isn't really free. Some companies have 800 numbers which are only free for domestic calls.

Thumbs down Re: Capital One Credit Card

"I have great respect for AMEX."

I have ZERO respect for those assholes and refuse to use anything associated with them. I don't care if they offer tripple awards, you won't see one in my wallet!

Now, if that wasn't enough, don't get me started... I even refuse to take their card in my business, as well as many other small businesses I know of.

Put it this way, I have more respect for AT&T than I do anything to do with AMEX. With how I feel about AT&T, that ought to tell y'all something about how I feel about AMEX

Use it if you like. I won't!
