Maybe Cn'J or others that are smart guys can shed light on this - Just in the last week, this has happened in Medellin. A girl I know that works in one of the textile plants was sent home for 20 days, reason, exports way down. One of the largest cut flower companies (I heard 5000 employees, but this IS Colombia) is shutting down for 2 months or until further notice, reason, major export client, U.S. . This strong COP is for sure not good across the board here. And I am wondering about, bananas, coffee and all those thing I know nothing about. But this has to be very bad for any company that exports products to the U.S.

Just like my clients aren't buying my product, the u.s.a. the biggest clients of Colombia ain't buying their stuff man! The dollar sucks, so we don't want to pay more for flowers, but when the Peso is up our dollar doesn't pay them like they are used to.

When the dollar is up and they get a dollar for a flower , they in turn get more pesos por dollar, now they are getting less pesos por dollar.

THis is one of the benefits as the US Dollar is used as the global currency. Although it aint paying off now, and I seriousaly doubt we will hold that honor for much longer!

**** gringos people in the States are suffering an economic turn down, they are just not buying like before, now trying to tell these Miskito Indians that the lobsters are worth less than last year and the price of produceing them has gone up???????

It is hard to soar with the eagles when you are working with turkeys....No bad vibes intended, but dealing with uneducated people IS difficult.....

Our expenses have gone up 25% in less than a year here in Cali due to the exchange rate. It's still better jere though.

God Dam youre lucky...mine have more than doubled..You got an extra bunk on that boat?

At least you do not have a Hitler crazed manic doing the steering in Columbia....
