i understand the new taxes in affect beginning 1-01-03 will be 7 percent each time money exchanges hands in colombia. the old tax of 16 percent was done away with and this new one was implemented. i am receiving some confusion on this tax and how it will apply. i suggest we all work together to better define exactly how it is to apply so we can avoid a fox in the hen house.

Question

You know,Kent,if this is applied to credit card purchases & atm fees,it certainly is something that would effect all of us that visit there often... I speak to several colombianas on messenger,got to get the straight & skinny on this one...!

yes supposedly there is some sort of new tax...to build up the army and "take the country back from the FARC...

Teh only tax I heard of was a tax based on wealth.
