Default The end of apartment rentals in colombia!

At least as we know it. There is a new law caused by the hotel companies who passed it to make sure all apartment rentals are monitored by the same systems as hotels, unless rented a month or longer..

I was searching the forums for a couple of apartments websites, they were closed down.. I also recieved an email from an apartment rental company who says things have changed, the gringo making the apartment deals down there may need to find new work..

I would really like to hear from the guys who have apartments and rent them, where is southern roler and arturo, I would like to know what they know..

I'm right here Last Lion. I am still renting apartments like usual. My website is just down because of bad business practices by my Cali designer. I cant renew that web domain for several more weeks, so I am just waiting on that instead of reprinting new business cards and other new costs that would be generated from a new web address. I heard some news about this law but last I checked it was not passed. I will research it but things have a way of being looked over in this country. That can be good and bad for business owners.

In medellin it seem they are all taking a break from it and tryig to get with the new law, yes it did pass. WHich means the military could be stopping b to make sure everything is in order, at least that is what I have seen in soe of the smaller hotels...

To bad I got a guy who needs a place, fernando suites is down as well as a few of the boy in med.. Maybe they are just going underground.

That law is true. I sent an email to the person i rent from in Medellin and she wrote me back about the new law and says she is scared to rent to me by days. She says it has to be by the month. The law passed. And is this law all over Colombia or just in Medellin?

Hey young man.

I don't know about any new law, but way back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, apartment renters still had laws to abide by.

Remember the guest book you signed when you rented an apartment from me? That information was required by the DAS and reported to them daily, a business license was required and taxes had to be payed along with insurance and pension benefits paid for your employees.

Now that's how it was suppose to work, but I think most were operating illegally, (and still are) just like here, it's a MF'ER when you are trying to give a reasonable price and good service and your competing with dishonest law breakers.

I hear that, I am working for wages at best these days. There is a new law in colombia passed recently heavily influenced by the hotel industry, you were always on track BOB..

Now there are even tougher requieerements, still some rentals out there but the big guys in medellin seem to have all scattered..
