Default New Colombia travel guide

Any thoughts? Is there any recommended travel guide (other than the very informative gringotalk books?!)

if you are planning bus or auto touring within Colombia, I would recommend "Auto Guia" Turistica De Colombia sold at the large bookstore at the malls in Colombia

I have heard that this guide is actually a really good one, JOOK!

Written by people who actually have travelled to colombia , unlike the infamous lonely planet guide in which the writer , who was dating a gal at the san francsico colobmain consulate and never actually never went to colombia. Apparently he just got all his info from the colombiana living in the states!

The book that Jook mentioned may very well be the better guide, I do not know. However I have been reading lonely planet as well as other sources for years to help plan trips, and IMHO they are user friendly, informative and accurate as a guide not gospel.
After reading the above post , I skimmed the Cali, Cafetera and a few other areas that I am familiar with and I find my 3rd edition 2003 copy of lonely planet “Colombia” Dated but still pretty accurate. The author claims to have 3 years experience in and around Colombia. I am unable to speak for more recent editions.
For me these guidebooks have been useful tools, and I will continue to use Lonely Planet as well as others.

I wonder if I really need a guide book. My trip is for the most part planned, sort of anyway. I'm meeting my GF in Cartagena. The plan is to spend a few days there and then go off to Santa Marta. That is, unless I end up falling asleep on a hammock on a nearby island for a few days. Anyway, I suppose I might as well spend the lousy $7 on the book. -) Thanks guys.

It is the good place to travel. The climate is tropical. Spanish here is precise and easy to understand. It is a country for travelers more than tourists. There are lots of site to see there such as amazing beaches, rainforests tours and jungle lodges, archaeological ruins and sites.
