Thanks. Snooppuppy. I'm sort of coming to the same conclusion. The only concern with Colombia I have is security and how difficult it is for Colombians to get Canadian visas for an eventual fiancé. I suppose however with regard to the last, it's going to be difficult wherever. Canada has recently really tied the noose on even tourist visas for Costa Ricans.

As for Felipe....were you the one from North or South Dakota? In any regard, I think the number Purita set me up with was just over 15. I met a few more down here through Latin American Cupid, a regular dating site.

Mark, my wife is in Lima right now and she thinks a reasonable apartment would be availible. I had a nice condo in Miraflores last year for $20 a days that was a block from Pizza street.

Bill123 has some tickets.
If you are flying out of Miami usually the Bogota flight is the cheapest.
I've never been to Pero so I wouldn't know.

It depends on where you want to go in Peru, and in Colombia, and what kind of budget you want to work with.

Any ideas TC? And why limit yourself to just those two countries?

So true EC I'm a vet/pentioner Bro so I'm finacially ok without having to rely on a job there & SA seems appropriate for me at this time because of the distance and my tri-lingualism. Honestly, I hate flying!!! Got burnt out going back n forth to Brasil over the past 3 yrs. & Uncle Sam has taken a bit outta me too while I was in the military I will always go back to Brasil to fish & visit friends but I'm lookin' for something not too far from Texas where I don't have to lose a day in flight gettin' back to the King of Capitalism if you know what I mean.... Got permanent residency for Brasil but wanna see more of SA. I hear a lotta good about CO and some bad but no different than any other place in this world. Just got some offers to teach in CO but still have not made up my mind on which locale is best for me. Idle hands are the devils playground so I hope the teaching will keep me busy and outta trouble!!! You guys have played a large part in me narrowing a few places down but I gotta go and see for myself. I love the beach but neither is on my list of offers as of yet!

Peace

Wow! Did I ever spawn a discussion! Thanks for the advice. So far, I'm leaning towards Cartegena after making an excursion to Panama to meet some women I met off of LatinAmericanCupid.com. Whether I go onto Colombia is up in the air.

A complication has occured...I met someone here in CR afterall that MIGHT have the elements I'm looking for. We've only been out once so far and I don't want to count my chickens before they're hatched but she seems to be a real sweetie.

The bummer of it all is that I wish I would've met her much sooner. Go figure that with my luck, I end up meeting her close to my needed date of return.

What has been your success in maintaining the spark when seperated by great distances?
