Question Board Questions -

Gentlemen -

A few questions for feedback purposes.

Board Pages Loading OK?

1. Those of you on dial-up in another country, are you viewing things ok? Does it take a long time to load pages, specifically the main Board page?

Session Times ok?

2. The Board is pre-programmed to log members out after about 15 minutes if no activity for security reasons. Is this enough time for your surfing needs and/or are you logged out if you don't click around after about 15 minutes?

How do you navigate the Board and web pages linked from Board (example: Books, Advertise, Raffle, Consulting, etc)?

3. When veiwing a sub-page off the Board like the Raffle page, how do you return to the main Board page? Are you clicking the GT main Header image or the back button?

-Thanks

Mr. Administrator,

I'm not having any problems on the Board. However, I used to log on and click "new posts" and then view all new posts since my last visit. That option is no longer available?

I usually click the back button to return to wherever I came from, but sometimes use the Gringotalk to get back home if I've gone off on a tangent.

Only problem I have is when I log in and hit check to box to REMEMBER ME, it doesn't.

Maybe I am just forgetable?

001, are you clicking on the blue bar at the top of the main screen that says "New Posts"? I believe it used to say since last visit but it's now...Last day/2 days/3 days/week/2weeks. Is this OK for most of our members?

Jib, do you X out of GT or do you log out? 2 totally different things. If you log out, your info isn't saved. I X out when at home but always log out while on a strange computer, which means I have to log back in with my password.

Log out is much safer than X'ing out. Always use the log out while traveling in a foreign country and using a cafe internet computer.

I have a problem after I click on "Quick Links" and then "Today's Posts". The new posts show up in bold letters and go to a normal font after I read the post. After a short time period however links that are not read are no longer bold. Is there any chance of fixing this small glitch as I find the bold feature very useful to keep up to date on new threads and/or new posts to existing threads.

I don't use the Quick Links tab. I've had no trouble accessing the latest posts using the New Posts tab. Mine show bold if I havn't read them and regular fonts if I have. Let us know if that doesn't solve it.

This happens to me on my Treo 750 with Windows Mobile. Before it would work and new it does not.

No go Tonk. I did not log out from the board last night and the few new posts that I did not read are no longer bold and this was by clicking on the "New Posts" tab. It is very easy to miss not reading these threads when this occurs.

I don't have an answer. I can't check if it does it to me unless I put up a bogus post and don't open it. Only then I can see if it went from bold to regular fonts by tomorrow without being read. I'll do that right now in this topic.

Rusty, out last Board webmaster, gave me a trick that I wrote down and saved. He made a thermometer with Austin's donations growing upwards in red. It never changed for me no matter what I did...for days. He told me to do what he called a "Major Refresh" by hitting the Control and F-5 key. It worked like a charm where a regular F-5 didn't. It can't hurt.

Maybe this is something Ray and Mark B will need to look into. If it's happening to you, it could be happening to others. Not good...

BTW: When did you 1st notice this?

Tonk,

Yes, I'm using the "New Posts" at the top of the screen. I liked it better when it showed the posts since my last visit. Now I have to go back a few days and sort out the posts I've already read from the ones I haven't. Not a major delima, but I think is was better the old way.

OK, all you gringos that log on sporadically, wada-u-say?
