Default Changes to the Board

We have made some changes to the board to hopefully gain some activity. We have added a new section regarding jobs in Latin America. We would like to see some input about how gringos are making a living SOTB.

Some sections of the board will now require that new users have at least 10 posts before being about to read and respond to the threads. New users will get a message telling them they must have 10 posts before being allowed access to that particular forum. We hope this will prompt some participation.

Thanks for being a part of GringoTalk.

Like the idea of a job related forum, but the idea of forcing us to post 10 times before we can see other posts really sucks! I understand you are trying to get more participation, but this is pretty ham handed. We have enough people and governments trying to control our lives. This has been a great site for me to begin to learn about everything in GT. Now I have to write some dopey posts just to continue to read and learn. Not a good idea IMHO.

Flmcguy,

The 10 post minimum is for protection against spammers. Don't sweat it though as you can easily accumulate the minimum amount required by participating and introducing yourself. There is a thread designated especially for that.

What is 10 posts to be able to read some posts?? I just don't get it how newbies in the board are just interested in receiving and not giving back I mean it is a society aspect also even though there are people that sweat it to give back to the ''community'' ; and also as Tinto mentionned, why don't you start by presenting yourself in the thread dedicated for that, A LITTLE ABOUT US

Yeah, I know, what a poor way to start out. Sorry, it was the end of a long stressful day and it just hit me wrong. Or better put, I took it the wrong way! Mea culpa.

Good point, except that was not mentioned as a reason or the reason for the change. That communication thing again. Next time I will ask for clarification before igniting!!!

Maybe because some of us are so new to this concept that it takes some time to process it. That is the case for me. Dont hold it against newbies only, cause there are probably some who have been on here for awhile who choose not to post as well. And I will post later in the thread you mentioned.

Thanks! Done. Now where else can I post some innocuous comment that will not get you guys all over my case again? On the other hand maybe I will just stir up some stuff and watch the fire works again!
