Question Hey Lurkers...What's The Problem...?

...with taking a few minutes, and adding something of some type of substance to this board?

I was logged on 4:15 PM EDT today, and there were 15 members logged on, and another 4 guests. Why is it so difficult to add your 5 cents to a discussion, or say "hey, that's a good idea", or "why don't you bite me !". Lurking on the board for hours on end, and not adding one single scintilla to the discussion(s) at hand. Utterly amazing.

In the last 24 hours, it has been the same people adding to the mix. Of the 167+/- active members, only 7 or 8 people have anything to say. Hell, half of you haven't even taken the time to say hello, and add a little blurb to "A little about us!". What gives?

I've intentionally in 2 days out of 2, added something so heinous to a post that a normal person would have said something about it. Not one individual came forth to say " Hey, that's pretty ****in' gross! ". Not one. So much for trying to elicit a response.

I understand the need to peruse, and read, and soak in some ideas and knowledge...but hey, why not jump in and join in the discussion(s). Is that so difficult?

The problem is, some of you won't join in until there is a problem. Kind of defeats the purpose, no ?

Men have placed literally tomes of information at your fingertips as it relates to the women, and the countries in Latin America. Yes, you've paid your membership, and you don't have to do a damn thing I suppose, but don't you think it might be little more fun to mix it up a bit, and make the whole experience a little more interactive?

Yeah, there's a few assholes here that'll tell you what they think in no uncertain terms...me being one of them...but when it comes to making life decisions...do you want a freakin' dog and pony show, or the brutal honest truth?

Yeah...that's what I thought...let me cut that Kleenex coupon out for ya for when your feelings get hurt...and you want to go looking for Ms. Right in Latin America...you need a friggin' wet nurse ...

JMHO this fine evening...

Can’t speak for the others but you did answer your own point with respect to me….NORMAL. No one has every accused me of being that!

I agree. If ONLY the new guys knew how much they have to contribute! It is the questions that made such a difference. A slightly different take on a problem requires us to rethink what we have done or not done ourselves. We all benefit.

It is your questions that provide the stimulation!

ElC, I can't disagree with a thing you're saying. In the past we used to call them "lurkers" and it was reason for a ban. Now as a pay Board they can do as they wish if lurking is what they want. I know for a fact that there's men with extreme experience down under who havn't posted a thing.

When things get slow I sometimes try to jump start it a bit, like my screw up in Alabama. It was just a fun post. If the Board had been hopping, it wouldn't have been posted.

Everyone has something to add, even if they've never been there. Why they don't contribute is a mystery, but I have a good idea.

ElC, there may be a reason your gross pics didn't raise a hackel. Whatever pic you posted didn't show up on my monitor. It's why I was baffled with the PM's we shared yesterday. A pic showed up, but not what you posted. Just now I copied it and pasted it into an email and only then did I see it and it was totally different than what appeared on my screen. I actually sent a PM to a member I personally know to see what he viewed, but he hasn't read it yet.

Sure we can get pissed about it, or we can jump start it and do something about it. I rarely ask the members for anything. Yesterday I asked about pixel count in posting pics, because I'd never done it and didn't want to slam the Board with a huge pic. Of all the members who have posted pics on the Board, guess how many responded? Yeah, that's right...0. Very disappointing... I just say Oh Well

You're trying to fire it up a bit right now. I like it!

BTW: Don't read too much into the members online part of it. Some of us leave our computers on even if we leave the house.

Sorry, Honky Tonk I never saw that post. However, I believe it is just under 100KB per picture and like 300K total. But I only sent photos once.

I do think there is still a flaw in the new post section. There seems to be a cutoff time which for which the new post designation gets assigned. For instance, I have started a thread which was in the new post area. However, I would come back to the website an hour later and there were no threads in the new post section and I had to use the last 24 hour link to see the previous threads, many of which were only hours old.

I think many threads get missed or ignored because of this.

You know the best thing about a board like this is??? The fact that I could give a rats ass what anyone thinks of me. HAHHAHAHA ****, although I have a couple of personal relationships I have made over the past year.

You could all be in bum**** Idaho for all I care!!! I probably will not meet many of you and I could care less if someone doesn't like what I say. This is a board to learn and to teach, first for me, was learning, than hopefully I can add something here and there that helps someone in their life and their travels. If you are on this board, than you are probably seeking information, hopefully you find it! If you have something to give than give it, grab your ****in balls and type what you got!!!!!

The only stupid question is the one you should have asked before!

You can say something really stupid, or even ask something really stupid, and even though there are some posters here that live to give something back (good & bad) in the end they might as well be in bum**** Idaho, because we aint that important!!!!! Our words are just that words! So you have a choice take the words or not!

If you are serious about travelling to a Latin Country to find a soulmate, than really, if you think about this is a great place to start!!!! Just don't forget, we aint gonna tell you neighbor, boss, sister or any other SHMO from IDAHO!! Its just a fricken internet board!!!

Remeber this could be your first step in finding that latin soulmate!!!!

I think Ciza has a point. Although the "new" board has a great look, everthing vanishes in a matter of hours. New posts on the old set up stayed on there for quite a bit longer. Sometimes, I kinda mull things over in my mind before I post. When I go back to the board "poof" the thread is buried somewhere. Oh well, maybe next time.

Captains, If I feel I have something to contribute or maybe stir something up (gently these days) I won't hesitate to post. Even the disagreements can be enjoyable.

Maybe we can put a longer clock on new posts and the today's posts in quick links, like 48 hours for the recent posts instead of what is there now. I often run into the same thing when using todays posts in quick links when I've been away for a day or two, though I usually catch up on things in new posts, I do find that I'm missing some things I didn't before. Ray, Tonk, Rusty Mon, wadda' ya' think? Can the system let us do that?

I sure would like to see some of our quiet members jump in and offer their views. What makes this board interesting and useful is the diverse points of view we get from not only experienced people, but from those new to the game and everyone in between as well.

LastLion,

I have always thought Bum**** was located in Egypt. Did it move? Are there two of them?

Please correct me as I am frequently wrong about such things!

That is my exact point Jibster! I just doesn't matter!!!! You could be in Bum**** Egypt or Idaho! Bottom line is, this is a board on the internet, say what you want and don't worry about how you look in bum**** wherever!!
