Question HOF Award - Keep it or drop it?

Gentlemen -

Some members have expressed a desire to get rid of the Hall of Fame Award or image. We can do this but first, since GT is a team effort, I wanted to first clear it with all our active members and HOFers. The HOF image was created and not copied or modified from another image. That said- the image is unique and was intergrated and created (at cost) to show our appreciation to the select group of men who offered to give back and help others. The Tiffany Award was created for the select group of members who possess great depth in writing, experienced guys and no nonsense feedback or direct answers to questions and extensive quality writings. Either way, we can terminate the HOF Award and stay with the Tiffany, vice versa or keep both.

We wait your response.

Thanks

Why remove it at all?

Also, will there be new Hall of Famers someday? Who selects people to get the Tiffany award?

Just curious as to how that works.

No way... keep it. Those guys earned it.

Unless it is a "HOF'er that wanted to get rid of his designation I am giving a "HELL NO!" also. Nothing wrong with a little recognition!

I think all the designations are silly, especially when they're based on post counts. Not mentioning names here, but there are people for whom the mo****r "veteran" is dangerously misleading. Anyone who joins here should evaluate for himself who does and doesn't know what he's talking about on a given subject.

I'm with Bueller on this one. After last weekends fiasco, one could easily be misled by "assuming" that a guy with a "mo****r" knows what it is that he's talking about.

As Hedley Lamarr was told in "Blazing Saddles" -

"Badges? We don't need no stinking badges!"

You can do away with all of them if you so choose!

Ok guys I just jumped to the other side of the fence. I have never been one for titles anyway. If it makes somebody feel good to have a title I am Ok with that to a point. In this case Bueller and El Captain are correct the designation could be "misleading". For me it is not an issue because I give little or no recognition to these titles. However, I have no problem seeing how it could be misleading. Lets play it safe and allow members to form an opinion on posters creditability on their own.

I agree with Bueller & El Capitan, but most can always tell which side the credibility is coming from.

I think it is cool to regognize the guys who give a **** about other men and give their time and energy to new guys.

I know El Capitan, Tonk, Ray and many others not only enjoy posting here but are really also trying to support men in their dreams and helping that come true.

Not sure if the badges or whatever they are, are neccesary, but it is thankless job supporting other men in their endevours! I give all that do my respect here!

For me the big reward is finding my media naranja, like tim, cap'n jib and now tbond and all the other great guys that have found their gal! A badge doesn't seam to help in the land of milk & honey.

Nothing wrong with the designations. When I first joined, I think I did pay attention to them....as it was an indicator to me of credibility and experience. I guess my only comment is that I don't really see a difference between HOF and Tiffany. You would think they'd be one in the same. If I recall correctly, HOF was originally based on quantity as opposed to quality....but that now HOF is no longer based on quantity.

Since there are so few HOF and Tiffany guys, that's why I started the thread on experience (previously known as "WHat makes you so special?")....so that guys could get information on other guys...and form their own opinions on whose comments or advice on certain subjects has merit. I assume even HOFs and Tiffany winners aren't experts on everything.

That said, don't really see a need to get rid of the designations, unless the guy who have them no longer want them.
