Default How Newbies are greeted?

I am curious when somebody signs up do they get a welcome letter emailed to them? I cant remember what happend for me..

I ask this cause I am curious if we are inviting them to join into the conversations. I was thinnking about a little one paragraph letter that prepares them for gringos. What to expect and where to start posting. Like maybe a link to the a little about us thread.. Maybe a link to the three most popular threads..

**** like that to engage newbies in the action.. that all..

Any thoughts?

Thumbs up Re: How Newbies are greeted?

Good Idea LL,
I can't remember any welcoming letter when I joined either. Quite the contrary in fact.

I ask this cause I am curious if we are inviting them to join into the conversations, That often get off topic but then come back around.

I was thinking about a little one paragraph letter that prepares them for gringos, That we are here, because we are NOT all there. What to expect and where to start posting.

Like maybe a link to the a little about us thread.. Maybe a link to the three most popular threads..

Drinking, Smoking Quality Cigars, and Chasing Wild Women

**** like that to engage newbies in the action.. that's all..

Any thoughts?

Oh hell ya JW.. That is exactly what I am talking about..

I think we should devote a thread to seeing how we collectively can help newbies acclimate to the very diverse group of men we have here.. Maybe this is the thread...

I agree LL,

First of all I want to say this, when I first started learning the Spanish Language I got all flustered and red in the face when I would make an error.......

And those around me would help in a nice way with correcting me, be it "Nasty" words or just plain conversation....

Course I was warned about the "Bulgars"

But one would be surprised how if some dumb F#ck got on my $hit....Others with a heart would come to my rescue.......

Hey fellers.....Bring it on, they ain't no such thing as a dumb question......

If anniversary is spelled wrong, it is the fault of the "Red Underlining
"....

Because I know I can't spell it...

Another thought is that we have a few posters that come on and blast out there advertising for services and apartments to rent.. I honestly feel if they spent a couple of hours and posted more about themselves. And such their apartments and serviveces would be used more.

I bet guys like Jamie and Nelson and some of the other poster like Southern Roller with his apartments have benefitted immensely from posting the occasional thought about something..

I know I would appreciate having more options when travelling to LAM..

Well, maybe someone should form a welcome committee. After I approve a new member, I can PM the persons username to that person who does the welcome email, and they can send a welcome email on behalf of the board.

vBulletin sends one, but it is very generic. It says something along the lines of Your account has been approved, welcome to the board or something along those lines.
