Default Little Bug

Ray,

I've noticed that the,
"Last edited by Tinto : Today at 08:06 PM." feature kicks in only after three minutes pass. Before, there was no indication when an edit was made. I think a required edit feature is nice to have but give at least a ten minute period before it kicks in.

I'm assuming that the one hour window to make an edit still stands and that with the recent change to the forum this feature wasn't altered.

I'd also like to air an opinion about the header. I think just the ocean and sky is a bit boring with it's predominant blue. How about a more attractive beach scene with sand, clouds, or even a sunset or sunrise? Personally, I liked the other header better that the current one. This one just seems to be a bit drab.

Another thing, why do some posts have a lot of blank space below the writing? It would make it easier reading and shorter pages if the next post started immediately after a post rather than a large (sometimes) blank space.

This isn't a fault of the forum's software but many people like to quote the post directly above by pressing the "quote" button which unnecessarily duplicates the above thread. I find it easier to read and it takes up less space if one merely responds to the above quote rather than duplicating what was written. We don't communicate like this when speaking in person, so why do it here? I can see if one wants to quote a person if what was said is up on the page or on the preceding page, but find it a little redundant to use the quote feature so often, especially directly below another person's comments, or am I nit-picking?

Mis dos centavos.

Thumbs up Re: Little Bug

Tinto -

1. you have one hour to edit your post, and if you edit your post, then a small text reason of 'why' will appear at bottom of your post.

2. The Header does show to much blue and it's straining on the eyes--more mods for that image for sure. Thanks for the heads-up.

3. The reason why you see space is the avatars are a bit large and HOF and Tiffany badges take up some space. Not much we can do about this, except decrease the size of all avatars.

4. About your last inquiry--not sure what you mean but the quotes is a great feature, and you're welcome to use, or you don't have to.

Anything else off balance?

1. The "why" shows up only after 3 minutes and makes a notation regardless if you fill in the reason why it was necessary to edit your post (see below my signature line). Before the forum was changed recently it took much longer for the edit notice to appear. It would be nice to have at least a 10 minute grace period before the "why" or "edited" notice became mandatory.

2. De nada, and I'm glad you agree.

3. I was referring to the blank space below what is written in the post, not the space below the avatars. It's the space between my last written word and my signature line. I will give you an example of what I meant in this post.

4.a The quote feature is a great feature but I think it is overused just like it was unnecessary for me to quote your comments in my post since I am responding to your post directly below yours. In normal everyday conversation I would not repeat everything you just told me before I reply to your comments.

4.b Yes, there is another small bug I've noticed. I think that the "Today's Posts" feature under "Quick Links" is responding differently now. Before, after clicking on Today's Posts each new post would stay highlighted until I clicked on it and read that new post. Now the highlighted feature seems to disappear after a short time as if I've clicked on each link and read it, when in fact, I haven't.

I agree that there should be a 10 min. grace period before a post shows it's been edited. Some members have it, some don't. Mine showed edited after 60 seconds, though I don't know what it is now with the changes.

As far as the use over use of quotes:

I agree too. Many times a 4 paragraph post is quoted and the response right below the original post simple says..."I agree"

I put up a post addressing it about 2 years ago, LA did too...to no avail. I even sent PM's to some, but the next day it was the same thing. I now simply don't read anything that's been quoted but skip down to the new post.

I've read other chat boards and it's the same thing. Some are much worse and you can't even find the new post for all the quotes. I've learned to just live with it as it's just the way it is.

Just like those who shout in all capital letters or have every word start with a capital letter, I just live with it and look for the content.

I don't know why there's so much empty space after some posts end, like Tinto's post #3 right above mine, but not in his 1st post
