Question What Do Our Members Want to Talk About?

I've read this Board for years. Back then most of were still trying to find our way. Many myths busted, much of what we didn't know then we now know.

Reminds me of the Bob Seger song where he sings..."Wish I didnt know now what I didnt know then..." Against the Wind. Beautiful song if you've never heard it. I just substitute Lynn for Janey in the song and it sums up my younger life.

We have lots of newbies who read but don't post. What subjects do our members want to hear about? Countries? Marriage? Culture? Odds? Danger? SEX?

Yes, even Ohooooo...sex isn't a taboo subject unless it's about mongering, in fact it's very revelent!

I've probably written maybe 10 topics that I've never posted because I never saw the interest on the Board.

I'm just trying to stir the pot some and get more members to come out of their shell.

How 'bout it? What do our members want to hear about? Somebody will steer you in some sort of right direction.

What I feel separates GringoTalk from the other forums is we give it to you straight from the bottle, no on the rocks BS.

Want some straight talk? Just ask...

Where the EFF is everybody? You have dangled some tantalizing bait, but nearly no bites from the schools.

Sail, I agree completely. I've always said GringoTalk is just a bunch of regular guys shootin' the **** while sharing a couple beers on a beach somewhere talking of a better, less stressful life, SOTB. We might even have the latina of our choice right beside us. (Hope she doesn't speak English!)

We shoot straight, we cut up, and we don't hold grudges if someone doesn't agree with us. We have straight info, humor, cynicism (sp?) and our differences, but the bottom line is we all have a common goal.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I roll out of the bed at 6:30AM feeling like stir fried ****. I get my 20oz. cup of Oma coffee and greet the day with posts by sailover and ElCapitan; and only a few others. I like my life and the way I greet the day, even if I don't have the time or energy to post in the AM.

I just wonder why this Board doesn't have the numbers posting like other chat boards do. I'm not saying I want the never ending BS the other boards post about, I just wonder why so many members prefer to read but not contribute We really are pretty newbie friendly on GringoTalk.

I will salute sailover and ElC for boosting my coffee wake up every day of the week!!

I just wish we had more...

I Agree Tonk and I hope we have provided you guys with the best Board software available and since we're on the topic, team meetings and book demands have prompted us to begin re-selling books once again - The Two Gringos Guide and It Ain't Easy Being a Gringo. But this time we are selling a downloadable version, like a PDF file. No more envelopes, no stamps, no waiting, now you buy it then BAM! ...you get the info in 2 seconds and it's updated weekly not yearly like before. Now, regarding posting or lack there of from Newbies ....Gringos.com, the domain has great placement in Google, Yahoo, etc and Tim, Tom and yours truly co-wrote two highly informative books about meeting Latinas in Latin America and we own the best Forum on the subject, Jelsoft. So, in our biased opinion, we feel we're doing everything short of a national commercial on Fox. On a positive note, GT is growing and new guys are joining at a rate of about 10 new accounts weekly - paying members. Posting is no longer required since payment is required to join and if you guys remember in the old days, your account was at risk for cancellation if you did not post after a certain amount of time.

HT, throw that OMA out with the dirty dishwater. Juan Valdez is the new man in town. They have a fuerte roast that is Seattle quality! I have to cut it like I do with my, uh, flour and sugar....
And even though he has been in coffee longer than Escobar in, uh, farming, their new consumer line is fantastic.

Good morning!

Sail, I don't know about you, but now I'm really scared!

HT waking up to "Sail and Cappy (sometimes make that Crappy) in the Morning"!! Most people get up and watch CNBC, or the Today Show...but not the Tonk.

Hey, maybe we oughtta syndicate it, and give ol' Mel Karmazin a call over at Sirius...

It's too early to think clearly, but then I'm not so sure I think clearly even when it isn't early. It's puzzling why there aren't more people posting. I suspect it has to do with a general decline in interest in looking to L.Am. for romantic interests.

Recent developments in the drug and violence front especially in Colombia and México have probably made people more nervous about going south. IMBRA rules have also complicated the situation, as have increased immigration fees and longer wait times. It's a lot of f*cking work to bring someone here and can bankrupt a lot of us. Plus, there are so many scammers and con-artists our there in the introduction business, both the owners and the ladies, that no one should have much confidence in dealing with the introduction end of the process. Now add the uncertainty of a tenuous relationship between two almost strangers who don't speak each other's language very well and it all adds up to a high risk venture. No wonder the agencies are having difficult times.

There are a lot of men unhappy with the current state of affairs with respect to the stereotypical "AW," but I don't think that level of unhappiness translates into a lot of real action in regard to looking elsewhere. As a result, there is not as much interest as there was a few years ago, especially ante-9/11, when I got involved in all this.

My 2¢. L.A.

I would happy to write on the topic of sex, but it is probably wiser to write on a subject I know something about.

Market demographics change from time to time. My personal experience is that a VERY large number of Gringos over the age of 50 to 55 are coming SOTB. I see them at meetings, airports and civic events. Most of the time they are alone or with another guy for company. These individuals are not computer literate for the most part. In two cocktail hour conversations, I found out that many of these guys are not necessarily ‘know it alls’ but prefer to find their own ways SOTB. Ah the American individualist herd mentality.

There is no question as to the improvement to the board…thanks Ray! Long term this will be the vehicle that will prove the most advantageous to the Gringo heading SOTB. But now?

Nothing succeeds better than success. In some respects in our efforts to make individuals aware of the potential pitfalls of visiting SOTB for a mate, we have emphasized what not to do. Sure this is important for those that are ‘clueless’ (include me in this category with respect to women). Granted our *****ing and complaints is a catharses for us but a negative only negates.

Maybe those who are successful or have been, no longer feel comfortable posting because of the relative negativism expressd here. I know I felt that way when I started the thread ”Red Flags are Bullsh*t!” because of all the negatives. If we go through life looking for the negatives in life and a mate, IMO we will be blessed in finding the negatives in great abundance.

Roberts’ book was a ‘how to’. Maybe we should spend more time on that process. Just an idea.

I have a personal interest in adjusting to life in Colombia. A couple of weeks ago, I think that I found less than 10 persons in Cali are on the board (I didn´t search all of Colombia).

I have been here in Cali for about a year and a half now.

What reasons do those that live here have for NOT moving back to the US?

I seem to recall one comment that said "it is kind of like religion, you either get it or don´t".

Are the members involved in businesses here (high or low profile) or not working, like me at this time?
