Question Why do you continue to participate @ Gringos?

This badge/ award stuff has me kinda wondering why guy continue to post here! I know we share a little about why and who we are in the Thread "a little about us. "

There are guys here who havent travelled to lam in years who conitnue to post! There are married guys who continue to post! There are guys who aren't interested in getting married who continue to post! There are guys who are looking for there media naranja who continue to post. There are even guys like azjet, cubafro and colombia man who have the lating culture and blood running thru tmen as well as fluency in spanish. (I know azjet you are not a latino)

What is it about gringos that keeps you all here posting and particiapating?

This thread is not meant to be hype up "Gringos.com" type thread, but more to find out why people are here and continue to particiapate!

I will share a little about what it is fo me.

After travelling quite abit to mexico and a couple of trips to Costa rica, and maybe even more importanty being extremely attracted to latinas everywhere and dating a few here in the good ole USA! Didn't matter what country I was in, latinas seemed to draw my attention!

I started looking online and ran into Spanish Eyes and agency in Costa Rica, they had a link to gringos.com and I decided to check this site out. After studying all the posts and info here, I started to particiapate and here I am today still looking for that girl that warms my heart and maybe even more importantly, makes something click that say hey this is the one, make the leap LL!

For me I continue to particiapate because I have learned quite a bit about the culture, and learning aobut the places, the cities the pueblos all of that has been huge for me. I also have to admit that after a year & 10 months I have even started to learn spanish, I have taken classes here for 18 months and a few immersion classes abroad, that all due to my particpation.

Also a major factor is that it feels good to give a hand to the fellow gringo that maybe just like you were, when you started in this venture.

Just curious on what brings you all here and keeps you here?

LL,

Your above comments echo my sentiments. I remember reading a Russian forum before my first venture overseas to the FSU. I was a little nervous posting there for the first time but I wanted to write about my experiences to help others in the same boat. When I decided to look South instead of East I wanted to continue writing about my travels and experiences.

There is a certain amount of camaraderie that can be found with like minded individuals and it is always nice to hear another person's perspectives and insights.

I've also met a few of the other posters and consider them friends.

Anyway, for me, those are my reasons.

If you have a debt, you should TRY to repay the debt!

Another reason I go to the site is to look for questions from a newbie.

Even if it seems that the same question as been asked a hundred times, I always seem to get a different slant on what the real question being asked is. For example those who have traveled a bit probably have little fear of airports or traveling alone. New guys might have other feelings. A newbie's question about airports and security is extremely important. Helping is what life is about.

Also some types of things change rapidly L.A. (flights, security, access to phone service, and the like), and other things will not change in my lifetime. This site provides rapid updating of information.

Finally BEING WRONG! Where else can one have their views and opinions challenged by this high a level peer group?

The HOF thread proves this for me. Enjoyed the question as presented. First, TOTALLY agreed with Supermary. Then TOTALLY agreed with ELC. Finally, Micky’s comments seemed to sum it up for me. Then all the other comments through me back into confusion again. Often the answer is not as important as the process.

Well ditto to that one jib, I have been wrong myself sooo many times, but the process that we have seams to help me define what is true for me. And that may not always be what is true for anyone else!

Thumbs up Re: Why do you continue to participate @ Gringos?

GT is like TNT We Know Drama!!

GT is like a soap opera for men, minus the murder that usually takes place in a good novela, but there is a little backstabbing... so that is just as good.

I obviously don't travel around LAm cruising for gals, but I heard so much about GT from Ray that I just couldn't help but join and see what it was all about. Interesting to see how guys talk about gals... Although I haven't posted much lately because of college, I still read the odd thread here and there. Interesting stuff.

LL -

Very good question. I started here because of my search for all the information that I could find about LA, SA. When I began I was married and not looking for a women, but in life things change. I will say that I am very happy that I did stumble on to GT. The minds, hearts and souls of most all of the members here is so far above average it really does amaze me. We cover the serious to the ridiculous. We have very very smart and articulate members, we have very very funny members. But by and large the one thing that I believe separates GT from all others is that there is true concern among all here. I do not feel the "drama" comment that AZ made is true, in that, yes we have our "spats" and on occasion the pissing contest, but that is not the crux of what goes on here. I repeat myself often, that is what idiots do, but I do respect everyone here. I always try to keep in mind that we all are from different places, we all have different capabilities and points of view. With all of these different things about us, this "club" has no prejudiced list of requirements to join. I know that I am nutty, but the world would be a better place if it were like the GT board, here there is NO - what color are you, how much do you make, what is your religious belief, are you fat, skinny, smart, dumb, good, bad, educated, undeucated, happy, sad, etc. etc. . You are simply who you are and what you bring to the party. This getting old is very cool, LL, what was the question?

Love - Micky

LL,

I was never the type of guy who posted and joined Boards. GT is the first for me and I have two Tia's who were very instrumental in making me think about finding a wife outside of the US.

In 1996, I spent about two months in Costa Rica and Panama with my Father. We stayed with family from his side in Panama and with my mother’s side in Costa Rica...

I have an aunt in San Jose who I am very tight with she knew I was recently divorced and told me I need a woman from Costa Rica... no more American Women.. That’s when the first light turned on... later I was at another aunt’s home in Florida and she told me the same thing... I met many women on those trips and the experience was so refreshing... that I was all but retired from looking for women in the States...

I realized NYC is not my only option and why limit myself especially when my attraction to Latin women is so strong...
I continue to post so that I can learn and so that I can help... I don't think I will ever get to a point where I feel I can't learn something from someone else, even from a Newbie... this Board has some very level headed and smart people on it. Also, the roads previously traveled by GT members can save a new jack a load of trouble if they heed the advise given.

I guess I just have a common interest with the men on the Board and enjoy helping them out if I can. It's a 2 way street. I wanted info on Bolivia and bingo!

I have a hard time seeing a man heading for disaster if I can steer him in some sort of better direction.
