Default My Lima! Wine, Women & Song

Ok, In my case it was Wine, Women & FOOD ! (But I did like salsa music as well).

By now, most people are aware that Lima is one of the culinary capitols of the world! When I first arrived in Peru (7 years ago) I was attracted more by the "Bevy of Beauties" than the food to be completely honest.
Coming from NYC, I was no stranger to fine and varied dining, But it was in Lima that my taste buds discovered "real passion"!

Lima is a coastal city of 9 million people who go to lunch at 1:30 every day, so you can imagine they have squeezed a restaurant into every "nook & cranny".

OOP's I forgot to mention; Lunch is the main meal of the day and many restaurants close by 3pm or morph into something else entirely.

Dinner for two (I know this is about retired singles, but remember the "Bevy of Beauties") in Lima's finest restaurants will run about $60.00 if you order the local wine (Tacama or Occuajae).

Most Limeno's and Ex-pats as well choose to have their lunch in restaurants and cafes that feature "Menu".

MENU is a specially priced meal that usually includes a starter, entree, and drink (called refresco). Prices vary from place to place but range from a low of $2.00 to $4.00 for a gourmet meal (slightly higher on weekends).

Wines,
Peruvian wines are comparable to Chilean and Argentinian in most respects. I find myself drinking Whiskey more as it is a cultural thing. Johnny Walker is the most popular here, but I am in a "committed relationship" with Jack Daniels.
Most imported goods are more expensive here as there is a 19% VAT.
The "Whiskey Gods" have smiled on Peru though, as I can get a 750ml bottle of JD for $17.90!

Women,
What can I say.
I remember as a kid watching a movie or TV show about some space travelers who land on a planet with nothing but beautiful, available young women.

YEAH, LIMA'S LIKE THAT!

I don't know why Lima, or Peru in general, gets a bad rap on GT. I really like it there and the women suit me just fine. I still have a good amiga in Lima I've known for 9 years.

I used to bring a huge "jug" of Jack for a friend in Bogotá. He said it was ultra expensive there. Hmmm, maybe he knew I'd stop by and bring him a huge bottle of it free

I read comments like this, and it makes me wonder what I am missing ... then, people who know me say that the weather is terrible, and the women not European looking enough for me. Still, I have to see for myself. I would love to get collaborating evidence for sure
