Default Singlefather is back

I wrote a long post on Tuesday but lost it. I remember now to save on word just in case before I hit submit. Got sick for a couple of days and I am reposting.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

Here are some brief remarks in a point form basis.

I will post more later.

- Our marriage is going very well. There have been some ups and downs and some misunderstanding but that was to be expected. Roxi is a great wife and mother to our children. I am working hard to improve my Spanish.

- I got very sick a couple of weeks ago and ended up in the clinic/ hospital for 3 days..

- I have to get health insurance soon as you have to pay on the spot for care. No Money - No health care.. My nightmare is my children or wife getting sick and not having the funds to pay. I am working my butt off so I won´t be in that position.

- We finally got our kids in school at the beginning of November. They are doing a great in school and love it. They don´t want to miss a day. We had tutors for them every day for math and spanish before they started school.

- My 10 yr old son and 13 year old daughter feel like rock stars at school and are the most popular students it seems.. There are about 1200 students in the school.

- My son has empathy for the Jonas brothers. He would not wanted to be mobbed and hounded 24 hours a day. Seven hours a day at school is good for his and my daughter´s ego and self esteem. This is funny.. He has to go to the washroom a few times to hide from the girls... I feel very sorry for him , nottttttttttt. jjajajajajajjajajajajaja

- The school assigned 2 peruvian english teachers as advisors for my children to help them with any languange issues in class and any social or any other problem.

- I was very impressed how there school helped my children get used to the school and students. On the first day my son had some anxiety and was very nervous to go into some classes. His advisor gave him a hug and some kisses on the cheek and said don´t worry and took him for an icecream and 20 minutes later he was in class. He has not looked back since.

- As some of you might remeber my son last year could not leave the house for 3 months do to severe anxiety and is recovering from being kidnapped in canada.

- My son was sick on Monday and Tuesday and was away from school. He got a handmade get well card signed by over 150 students. wow.. That made him feel good.

- He has been invited to about 3 birthday partys a week and is quite a good dancer now my wife says. She takes him to all the birthday party´s.

- He loves the kisses on the cheek and the hugs he gets from all the girls.

- My daughter well she is 13 but is very tall and looks older. She is getting alot of attention from the girls and the boys. Her mother has had many talks with her about to watch out for peruvian boys and not to be swayed by romantic words and compliments.

- My daughter has attended a lot of birthday party´s also and has made many friends. She has a good friend who is a exchange student from Thailand. There is also a 16 year old boy from Ohio who has been going to school at the same school.

- I am working seven days a week teaching english trying to make ends meet. My first class starts at 7 am and I am at school by 6.30 am. I work from 7 am until 11 am. I get a break from 11 am until 4 pm since there are no english classes during that time. I then work from 4 pm until 8.30 pm. On Sat and Sundays I work 3-4 hours a day.

- I am looking for other opportunties to work from 11 am until 4 pm and maybe something else if I find it. It is not easy at times on our relationship and family life that I am working to 8.30 pm at night and getting home at 9 pm.

- Our children have soaked up spanish very fast. They pulled a trick on me one day and just spoke spanish with each other and their mother. Of course I did not understand a lot. My wife was laughing hard at this. She started crying from laughing so hard when my son responded to me saying " Please speak English " . He said to me in spanish. " No entiendo inglis " That was pretty funny I have to admit.

- My wife´s family have been a great support for us and treat our children like gold.

- When I was sick in the hospital with severe diarhea and vomiting. Roxi would not hardly leave my hospital room. She would not let the nurses clean me up when I had an accident or puked. She did it herself.

- Roxi has a great sense of humor and says she was practising for when I am 90 and she has to wipe my butt. hahahahahaha

- Here are some different culture issues.

- My wife got upset when I dropped off my dress shoes to get the heels fixed at the shoemaker and was not happy that I hand cleaned my own underwear the other day. She says this is her job to take care of me and do things for me.

- No matter how good your wife´s or novia´s english is you need to learn spanish because if they get upset there English goes out the window. I am taking steps to improve my spanish.

Take care and hello to everyone and I hope you are all doing well.

Anyone is welcome to visit us and we can put you up. The women here are great and beautiful. It does seem to be quite different then Colombia and is more conservative and but I can´t really compare since I have not been to Colombia.

- I know many women that would a great wife for a lucky man. Mywife´s sister would not take a dime from us when she watched our children from 7.30 am until 5 pm for 6 weeks. What a beautiful woman and a gem and a happy woman she is.

- One thing working at an english school is that I meet a lot of women that speak or are learning english. I am impressed with them.

- I have to get a party orgainsed down here for all my fellow board members to come down and visit and meet some great women.

Chau,

Jeff aka singlefather no more

Good deal Jeff and it's good to hear from you! Do you have any regrets leaving Canada for Peru?

I've been sick like that 2x in LAm, once in Colombia and once in Peru. Death couldn't be worse. Go to the local drug peddling tiendas and buy some Cipro and Lomotil. You'll be back on you feet and away from the baño within about 24 hours. Another day and you'll be fine, but take it for 3 days. It should help keep costs down and you away from the hospital. Without it I'm sure I would have ended up in one. The key is to start it immediately.

Your kids, especially your son, seem to be doing great considering what they went thru. You certainly hit the jackpot with Roxi!

Keep in touch amigo! It's always good to hear how your life's going since the move.

Jeff, thanks for checking in and keeping us updated. I'm really glad to hear how well your kids are adjusting, and Roxi continues to sound like an angel.

I'm like a kid poised on the edge of a pool, wanting so badly to jump in, but just can't make myself do it yet. Nice to see you swimming in the deep end ... ;-)

All the best ... Whitey

Hi Jeff and Family, Glad to finally hear from you. We have all been anxious with your absence. There is alot of adjustments that need to be made when you are in a situation as yours. Some pleasant and some not so, but still worth the effort. I admire what you have done and look forward to your observations and writings of your life and adjustments.

It was good hearing from you Jeff. I don't think I was the only one a little concerned about you after your announcement that you had a bad case of the mumps (or whatever the final diagnosis was) and then your somewhat long hiatus.

It sounds like everything is going really well with you and the family with your new life in Peru except maybe in the financial department. Hopefully in time you'll be able to live a little more comfortably instead of working seven days a week. Keep your chin up in that area and in time I imagine new opportunities will present themselves.

It is also very encouraging to hear how well your children are doing with learning Spanish, making new friends and especially the healthy adjustment your son has made.

Enjoy that second walk down the aisle with your wife Roxi!

Keep us posted on any updates as time allows!
