Saludos a ti Drask!

Hahaha ... glad to know you keep the white shorts and socks to a minimum too ... you won't see me wearing shorts in Colombia unless I'm near the beach or in the gym. About the only exception is Cartagena during the day.

I've never been to Peru, although I enjoy reading about it. It's definitely a country that I would like to visit, and from what I understand there are many beautiful high quality women that would make good wives. It sounds very similar to Colombia, except maybe a little more conservative and the quantity of beautiful women in Colombia is higher.

But ... I seem destined to spend most or all of my time in Colombia, as I have plans to marry my novia colombiana this year.

If you're interested, you can read more about me and how I met Nazly in these two threads:

A little about us: A little about us!

I've enjoyed reading your posts and I think you'll be a valuable contributor to the board ... keep 'em coming!

Cheers ... Whitey

Hola y buenas tardes Whitey,

I did enjoy reading your posts and how you met su novia. I truly wish you good fortune in how and when both of you go forward with your plans! I know it is a challenge, but I guess I have always enjoyed or found myself swimming against the currents in many endeavors of my life, and marrying a women from a different culture and country surely can be that!!

I know Cartegena from traveling there in I believe 1996 with mi ex-novia de Bogota. Cartegena was enjoyable, interesting and I am not sure if I wore anything but running shorts there. I will always remember watching on TV the accounts of the crash of TWA 800 off the coast of New York(the trip was during July). Ironically, after my trip to Cartegena and that tragedy, I had a somewhat intimate encounter professionally related to that terrible crash in 2002. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed my trips to Colombia and hope to return soon for pleasure and business.

I do believe in some ways the women of Peru might be more conservative that the women of Colombia, but I do not think the differences are that significant. However I have not visited personally, Cali o Medellin and that might shift my thought processes. Nevertheless there are so many great women in Peru and I am surprised at times, that more men have not discovered it. If I wanted to be single for awhile during the "search" I would find it hard to think of a better place. I surely acknowledge my bias. I deeply believe that Peru as many other latin american countries, has an enormous potential for men looking for a life time partner and also for business and professional opportunities with the right connections, relationships, patience and of course advanced capablity with Spanish.

I noticed your marketing background and your location not far from Detroit. I presently have a lovely amiga de Madrid that is living and studying for 6 months in Ann Arbor. I have plans to visit her with my wife in April or May. I hope we can chat a little about your marketing profession, because I might have some opportunities with my business where I could possibly utilize your experience and expertise in Colombia. Please feel free to PM me or send an e-mail to: drask@voicenet.com

I look forward to reading more of your posts and how you and Nazly proceed. I presently have friends here in the USA from Bogota, Medellin, Neiva, Zipaquira and Cali.

Suerte y hasta luego,

Drask48

Thanks Drask.

My marketing experience is pretty technical ... marketing database design, development, and maintenance ... data processing to support direct mail and email campaigns, campaign analysis, new product development.

I doubt Colombia currently has the infrastructure to support this kind of work ... email campaigns I guess, if there's a source somewhere for email addresses.

I'm not really a creative guy with expertise in marketing strategy, if that's what you need ... but anyway, feel free to PM me if there's something specific I can help you with ...

Cheers ... Whitey

(SFNM ... sorry to jack your thread ... it's about time you posted an update buddy!)

Well our children are doing well and recovering from post traumatic shock from their being kidnapped in Canada. My son is still on anti anxiety medication but Peru has helped him relax quite a bit.

Both our children speak nearly fluent spanish now. My son is learning how to dance very good and is going to break hearts in the future. As a 10 year old boy he has no problem with girls. He already says his future wife will be a Peruana. jajaja

My daughter... hmmm well I am glad her new mom is here to help guide and advise her. It is hard being the father of a beautiful 13 year old daughter here in Peru.

Roxi is a treasure who I love with all my heart. We have had some ups and downs like other couples.. Most if not all the problems were communication problems , we have resolved these issues and understand each other very well now.

Letīs call a spade a spade. There are very few women that could put up with 2 children that have gone through what they have gone through never mind love them with all her heart. Add in a 13 year old being a Canadian teenager and all the other issues.

She is not their step mom , Roxi is their Mother. They just happen to have 2 moms. One that has pasted on and one here in Peru.

Jeff aka singlefather no more

Holy crap, I may have to do it with the political climate here in Nicaragua.....

Tell us a bit of what you run into with the immigration, I don't remember if you went over it with us, but perhaps not only me wants to know.....

I am so glad things are working out for you.....

Oh yes, and ain that something pick up a new language so dog gone fast......

Mine, I was the only one that spoke English to them....

Then a missionary moved in next door so to speak with his wife and 6 year old daughter from California......

Mine advanced so quickly with a childhood friendship with her, I was absolutely astounded....

And she learned the Miskito Indian dialect and Spanish, in one year unbelievable how their minds are like sponges....

Thanks for your response Whitey. Your background is very interesting and in an area I feel mostly inadequate and incompetant about!! I will send you a PM in the next few days. What do you think about the impact of the Olympics on Canada's self esteem??

Saludos,
