Smile BB Tour 2007 (Northeast Brazil)

To Be Continued....

Gentlemen -

My road trip began below Maceio then on to Recife, JP, Natal, Fortaleza, São Luís and finished in Belem. However, I am also including my varias trip experiences to Bahia and north. All cities listed are highly viable for Gringos looking to have fun, experience a new culture, experience northeast Brazil, make new friends, taste the best fruits I've ever tasted and the women- approachable and quite beautiful.

Salvador:

Aracaju:

Maceio:

Recife:

JP (Joan Pessoa):

Fortaleza:

São Luís: What an interesting city and region with a lot of history. I stayed at the Brisamar Hotel- Avenida San Marcos 12, Ponta da Areia or http://www.dilos.com/hotel/9309 and I paid about $R80 ($35US) daily with breakfast and 15 minute walk to the Beach. From what I understand and I could be wrong but São Luís and Belem are the first cities the Portuguese landed. However, poverty is about as bad as some parts of Colombia, Panama, DR, etc. But the people are very friendly and the Beach is clean and active with people walking, partying, talking, etc. I had a good time and wanted to stay longer. SL is a safe town and the women are simple and approachable unlike the megatropolis cities of Rio and Sampa. The state of Maranhao is virgin turf for Gringos looking for nice, simple women. The people here are so far removed from any big city tude' that they are like country folks in the US back in the 50s. Belem and Fortaleza are not far away, maybe one hour by flight.

Belem: I think Belem is the best kept secret in Brazil and a great place to take a Novia/Namorada on a romantic get-a-way or even to look for a Novia/Namorada! I remember seeing loads of attractive women, yet approachable too. Blem is a romantic city and they have a cool old historic Boat Dock area that was turned into Restaurants, Bars and concerts every night of the week. I had no idea what was happening but I showed up in Belem right in the middle of Círio de Nazeré and the whole city was going crazy over this century old famous religious festival in Belem. Two million people in the street trying to touch a Doll made out to be the virgin Mary, people crying, sweating and smells of stinch and urine everywhere. When in Belem check out Ver-o-Peso, a cool old skool market with all kinds of stuff and food, and right next door you have the Museo de Amazonia with beautiful pictures of indian tribes living in the Amazon and finally the flagship Estação das Docas Complex, pic links below....

If you decide on Northeast Brazil, I advise you run the gamit or the Jogo-meio and visit Recife, JP, Natal, Fortaleza, São Luís and sliding into home with Belem. Gol and Tam offer direct flights from each city every day of the week with reasonable one day in advance tickets for about $150.00US.

The Final Tally: A home run, a great experience and new friends.

Meat, glad I could be of service.

Give me a few days to finish my report. I'll add more to my initial post as time permits so check back for additional text.

Well it sounds like you really got around ,this go around Ray. It is exciting to know that there are some places in Brasil that seam like viable places to meet nice women and sitll take in the beauty of the country, without getting the Brasilian 1, 2 punch like in the big cities!
