I will say Rio was may be the most beautiful place I have ever
visited(In landscape terms). Its alot like Carmel California or Malibu
north of Los Angeles. The beaches(Cobocobana, Leblon, Ipanema are all
backdroped with beautiful mountains and some mountains have huge, bright
spotlights that light up the mountain. Anyone can see the Christ statue
from just about anywhere in Rio. The beach is very beautiful and at
night the entire beach from Coba. to Leblon is lit up. You see people
playing vollyball sometimes up to 1:00am. However it's not dry like
California but not near as hot as Recife. It did rain two days while we
were there. The water is cold too kinda like the ocean in central
California. Whats really wierd is there is a beautiful mountain right
below Leblon right on the beach and it's covered with favelas(poor
shacks). I asked some locals why don't these poor people sell out to a
developer and live a descent life somewhere else. I was told these
people don't want to go and families have passed their shacks on to the
family for hundreds of years. Not much to do with finding a latin woman
but thought the visual may be helpful to some guys on the gringo board and Rio
ain't all bad.

Without a doubt, this series of posts (Brasil 1 thru 5) is the best I've seen on this board in a long time, possibly the best one ever.
