Default I dunno if

I'm on the right board as I'm not lookin to hook up with a Latina, I already captured one some time ago.. What I'm considering is relocating to Salvador de Bahia or somewhere thereabouts.. Does anyone on this board actually live in N.E. Brazil? If so any input would be appreciated. I lived in Mexico for about 10 yrs and speak fluent Spanish. I can pretty much tell what's goin on in Portugese just because it's so similar. We'd be goin not for a trip or vacation but for years. I'd like to know about residency visas , costs of living , attitudes of locals toward gringos ect. We're not Four Seasons or Club Med types, actually we prefer to live quite modestly. Most info I've found so far is for tourist rather than would-be residents.Would really like to hear someone who is presently on the ground in the area... thanks, Arturo :detective:

Arturo,

Welcome to GT. I think you've come to the right place. There are a number of posters that have specific knowledge and experience in Brazil. Nuno and Ray are two guys that come to mind. If you do a search function I'm sure you'll find a lot of useful information in the forum archives.

You may find another forum useful as well, gringoes.com - Brazil Travel, Brazil Guide, Brazil News

Regards.

I'd follow Tintos advice and take a look at the other Forum. If I'm not mistaken, there are more people on the other board that currently live in the NE area, mostly in Joao Pessoa, Recife and Salvador. I can't help much though, sorry... My family is from the NE but I have only been there to visit my aunts and cousins (I live in SP) so I only know Maceio, which is ok, and Palmeira dos Índios which is an extremely simple place (wouldn't reccomend living there though, it's not exactly a place to even try to find a job or anything like that and it's far away from the beach, from really anything and it's kind of a pain to get to), but I can't complain much because my aunt and her delicious chocolate cake is there, so it was pretty much paradise to me... But I don't think you'd move somewhere just because of my aunt's cooking
