Default Just arrived in Rio

Hi, to anyone reading this, I´m a new member and also just arrived in Rio yesterday, I read a few threads about the best places to go out at night and meet women and I was wondering if there are any normal places to go and meet women. It sounds like there are only hookers and gold diggers from the threads. Theres got to be some normal bars and beaches somewhere, I hope!! Any info please...

Hi Geoff, welcome to the board.

There is an amazing thread under Brazil: Rio Tips...

Plenty of info: Read on!

You might be interested not so much in Copacabana.

IMHO and experience the shoppings are nice, secure places to pick sexy brazilian gals.

Enjoy! and again, welcome on board!

Geoff, welcome aboard and what Nuno said!

Research this Forum for all sorts of information. My advice, do not stay in the tourist infested areas such as the south zone and Copacabana - avoid entirely. M & C is the only people I rent from. They are not cheap, but you get what you pay for - www.mcflats.com.br ...ask for Teresa.

Talking Re: Just arrived in Rio

Good Morning Geoff.

Mr Gringos gave you the perfect seed: in MC Flats they'll give many pointers.

Leblon is less heavy on the monger side.

But Brazilian Ladies aren't easily approacheable on the beach nor on the streets - in shopping malls, they are way more relaxed, as the next guy comming (you!) will not be a mugger. And you can smooth them over in one of the mall's restaurants, and close the deal in the florist or a perfume stand. Also, in any mall there's a guarded place to pick taxis (on the way to her appartment?)...

Geoff, I'm a Portuguese used to Brazil, but I wouldn't walk a shady street alone in Rio de Janeiro - and never, ever at night - take cabs (ask for recomendations at the desk, some understand English, most Brazilians understand Spanish) and try to dress as much as any Brazilian. Don't display expensive cameras/gadgets too much. Keep most valuables in the apart/hotel's safe. Brazilian tourist do it this way too, you know.

The local Brazilians also move in groups. As soon as you get the girl, hold on to her. She will be glad to be your guide. You'll learn faster and more securely (and with much more fun!)

Something you GOT TO visit is the Botanical Gardens in Rio - especially if you hook up with a sexy Carioca.

Nuno

Geoff,

Nuno is GringoTalk´s resident Brazilian expert.

Nuno´s advise on Rio de Janeiro is spot on and without a doubt, Nuno has more Brazilian knowledge than anyone I know outside a local Carioca.

The problem right now, Rio is slowly becoming more and more dangerous due to many circumstances that you have to first understand within the local communities and suburbs of Rio state. However, a very fun place for a single man. Traveling with a buddy or GF like Nuno recommends is the best way to go.

Not a good sign though, if true?

Sure STM: YOU (as well as I or even a Brazilian) are at (some) risk in places like Rio or São Paulo, but the malls are like walled off condos (private security at all doors and inner patrols): safety assured.
