Default São Luís, Brazil

I just got an email from a gal living in São Luís. Whereabouts is this on the Brazil map? Whatsit like? I have been to Peru, Colombia, and Panama but, I haven't been to Brazil.

Sao Luis is in Maranhao, way up in the Northeast. Never been there though.

E-Man -

I was in São Luís recently, last October to be exact, for a few days and what an interesting city and region with a lot of history. I stayed at the Brisamar Hotel- Avenida San Marcos 12, Ponta da Areia or http://www.dilos.com/hotel/9309 and I paid about $R80 ($35US) daily with breakfast and 15 minute walk to the Beach.

Northeast Brazil is viable and reminds me a lot of Colombia and some virgin parts of Panama, the DR and CR. I wish Nuno was back onboard posting because he's in the process of relocating to Natal. Nuno is a great source of true no nonsense information on Brazil and I expect him back soon, and lets hope sooner than later.
