Exclamation Argentina Trip Report...Part 1

Very late tonight I will be flying to Buenos Aires. I will do my best to give a trip report, but I will only be there for 2 full days, and 4 hours the next day. So, I hope I can get some info for you.

If anyone wants any specific info, post a message here and I will do my best to get that info while im there and report on it.

I love Buenos Aires but I don't travel in your circles.

I find your reports fascinating for the imformational value along with the entertainment.

BA is definitely more like Europe and the upper crust.

Indeed... And the people here are very cold for the most part.

Azjet, nice report! You spent a lot of $ but seemed to have one hell of a time too. Maybe you also made some great contacts as well. I say live it up! I have a feeling you'll be telling your buddies that big night on the town for a long time to come.

I dated a pilot's x wife awhile back. His lodging was free if I remember correctly. A lot of guys have plane fare and lodging to contend with. You have dining and entertainment.

"This is not going to be much of a report, and I feel like I may be wasting my time. I dont think this is what any of you are looking for."

Not wasting my time for sure. We have reports of guys living in LAm on a shoestring and now high rolling it...with everything in between. It's a great cross section. Keep it coming, I'm enjoying the varied trip reports lately.

Azjet -

Great stuff, and I really appreciate your comments and posts. I want to hit up Argentina myself soon, possibly real soon so the more I read about your reports, the more inclined I am to go.

Thanks again for the great input - we appreciate it!

I found the people cold also if you just tried to speak to them(Cali is probably the friendliest city). However, if you are introduced to them by someone they know, they warm up quickly and are very friendly.

Not a place to go if you know no one and want to make new friends.

I like that the women are tall and thin and educated, but I do prefer the look of Colombian women more. There are always trade offs.

I was in BA during the summer but it is far enough south that it does get cold. It is an awesome city. Are you staying in the microcenter?

I have heard Argentenians to be a rather snobbish culture even on television. I am sure they all warm up after time. THe only reason I am posting this is because I met an couple from Argentina last after leaving the comedy show, we partied until 2:00 am. That chick was crazy, she wanted to have a skinny dipping party at her house. She was calling us (me and some AW I know) chickens. I have not been called a chicken since grade school. lol

They said they had been married for 8 years. I will tell you this she was like a cat on her husband and very affectionate after 6 years of marriage. Her Spanish accent speaking English was sexy! Anyway locational humor, had to be there, but I more or less watched the way she acted towards her American husband. Not bad.

I spent way to much money, and I spent to much last night as well. Not the amount that I spent on Friday night, but more than I really wanted to. For anyone reading this, do not think that you cant have a good time on much less money, YOU CAN! I tend to hang out in places that are very upscale, and I pay a hefty price to be able to do that. Last night the club I was in, which I will post about later when I have more time, had Los Brujos hanging out. If you dont know who they are, they are a famous hard rock group here. They were trashed like everyone else and walking around talking to people and dancing. The club I went to last night was pretty amazing, I will post more later on that. But... you can go other places and have a great time here, which I have done on previous trips. The only bad part, this time of the year is winter time here. And let me tell you, it was COLD and windy last night.

Well, the lodging and flight are free when im working. If I travel for pleasure, I have to pay for my own lodging. And as far as the ticket, I only have to pay the taxes, security fees, and entry into the country if required. Im just thankful I have a job that allows me to do this.. on someone elses dime... for the most part!

Well, I am going to have a bite to eat I think. This hotel has "theme" lunches. And strangly enough, this weekend is Christmas... and with the weather, it feels like it! Its cloudy outside, the outside temp says 41 degrees, and its a bit windy. And, they are playing Christmas carols downstairs in the restaurant. And I am hungry! They were making jokes that there will be a heat wave here this week... it will be in the 50's!

Well, I need to eat, then lay back down and sleep for the afternoon. We take off at 11pm and head back. Long 8 hour 46 minute flight. I will never be so glad to be decending into Chicago, im ready to go home and enjoy my 10 days off.

Have a good day.. Ill write part 2 tomorrow...

I lived in Mendoza for 3 months last year for athletic training. Amazing city and stayed with an Argentina family. I feel Mendoza Argentina is an adventured gem. It is funny I logged onto the site today and read the classic quotes. I feel the same way.... Mendoza is definitely a place I could see myself living in.
