Default You Can't Say That About Me!

A person (Dutch) who has published material on Panama for a number of years on the www.noriegaville.com Link has decided to call it quits.

This is what appears on the now defunct web site:

“Sorry, but The Noriegaville News is closed and is not coming back. Some deeply disturbed people have a problem with investigative in-your-face journalism in Panama and have not just kept their hate campaigns online but also moved them into the real world. The benefits of publishing this site do no longer outweigh the threats against family, people showing up with stun guns at my house and the abuse of Panama's legal system and its backward libel laws for pure harassment. It's a great disappointment having to conclude that Panama does not offer a safe environment for free speech and publishing online, and that foreign rogues take advantage of these circumstances, but there is little we can do about it.”

The “backward libel laws” is indeed a fact of life in Panama and other Latin American countries. What is particularly interesting is that proof of the accusation being correct IS NOT A DEFENSE. Said proof is entirely beside the point! The statements called in to question another persons “honor” and damages will be assessed. You either said it or you didn’t! Please note he was talking about ‘foreign rogues’. Also recall what I have mentioned in the past, fellow Gringos are often the problem down here.

Some time ago, a builder was going to sue a Gringo because the Gringo was telling everyone, about the lousy job the builder did. The builders attorney family member of course) brought charges. What prevented the Gringo from getting hurt financially was his American/Panamian attorney suggested that an international publication would like to attend the trial. As over 50% of the builders’ business was derived from this source, the builder decided that “discretion was the better part of honor”.

Talking Re: You Can't Say That About Me!

Is that a cry for HEEEEELLLP?
There is a group in the miami chamber called the "the mothers of abused builders". They will come if you pay thier airfare but no "G" class seats for them, these are big Cuban girls especially when they throw thier weight around and I heard those hot flashes make them agressive as hell.
