I received the following email the other day:

......................

Venezuela Dictator Vows To Bring Down U.S. Government

Venezuela government is sole owner of Citgo gasoline company

Venezuela Dictator Hugo Chavez has vowed to bring down the U.S. government. Chavez, president of Venezuela, told a TV audience: "Enough of imperialist aggression; we must tell the world: down with the U.S. empire. We have to bury imperialism this century.."

The guest on his television program, beamed across Venezuela, was Cindy Sheehan, the antiwar activist. Chavez recently had as his guest Harry Belafonte, who called President Bush "the greatest terrorist in the world."

Chavez is pushing a socialist revolution and has a close alliance with Cuban dictator Fidel Castro.

Regardless of your feelings about the war in Iraq, the issue here is that we have a socialist dictator vowing to bring down the government of the U.S. And he is using our money to achieve his goal!

The Venezuela government, run by dictator Chavez, is the sole owner of Citgo gas company. (Reference) Sales of products at Citgo stations send money back to Chavez to help him in his vow to bring down our government.

Take Action

Please decide that you will not be shopping at a Citgo station. Why should U.S. citizens who love freedom be financing a dictator who has vowed to take down our government?

..........................

I don't know about you guys but I think Belafonte's and Sheehan's passport should be revoked. If they like Chavez and Venezuela so much let them live there under his dictatorship for a while and see what they say then.

I checked out this news report and was surprised to find out that Venezuela does indeed own Citgo. We don't have any of their gas stations on the West coast but there are plenty in the East. Knowing this information now I would not do business with them.

Chavez may have put his arm around this fea gringa but he blows kisses and winks at cute protesting Argentine latinas:

Ahhh man not chavez again. When is this guy ever going to quit. Doesn't he know this revolution of his is going to fail. Well at least Colombia isn't falling to these socialist ideas since the FARC seems to be pushed out of the picture.

Yeah I think I might boycott venezuelan petrol too. Since he said those things that he said about the british people and tony blair. But who care at least Colombia is much better and with Uribe possibly being re-elected and the farc being further eliminated and pushed back, it means a safer colombia for me and more women too.

She is as ugly as his gorilla looking face!

You know what they say... Birds of a feather flock together.

A gorilla and then Zira from Planet of the Apes. Such beautiful children they would have!

Well the old gorilla did it again, they just passed a new resolution that will let him run for president as long as he wants... That is some scary ****. The real sad truth is that only 60% of eligible voters in venezuela showed up to the polls.

I don't want to add flame to the fire. And I'm not a big fan of Chavez. I think he's proved to be quite a problem for Venezuela. However, I'd like to make a couple of points. We have freedom of speech in the US, so both Cindy Sheehan and Harry Belafonte have the right to speak as they wish. And we work best to maintain free speech when we ensure those we disagree with can speak. After all it's hardly freedom of speech if you can only speak in support of the popularly held ideas.

Second, while Citgo is owned by Venezuela, they also provided low cost heating oil to many people in the North East when the price of home heating oil was astronomical. I know it's a publicity stunt, but it also helped many people here in the US keep the heat on in their homes.

Third, the current drop in price of Oil, has caused the Venezuelan government real headaches. Somewhere I heard that they can only make money when the price is above $70 a barrel. The current oil glut is causing problems for them.

Finally, he was originally elected democratically ( I know for the last few years that's turned into something of a sham). The Bush administration was only too happy to quickly throw support behind a group of military general who tried to run a coup and take over the Venezuelan government. Chavez managed to regain power, but only after the US administration recognized the validity of the Military Junta. Some have argued that that coup was financed by the Bush's administration.

I don't think he's a good choice for Venezuela, but I also think he's got some real grievances with the US Government.

Yes Free Speech for everyone, it is very important that we that, unlike Venezuela, where Chavez has shut down TV stations and newspapers. And threatens people with loss of jobs, if they don't write and say what he wants.

I agree Free speech is good and eveyone should have it!!

I mean you know that last week he named a national holiday, to celebrate his 10 years as their president!!! I mean what an egomaniac.. He told people if they went to work on that day, he would shut down their business!!! That is some sick ****!!!

I have a good friend who is and lives in Venezuela.. It is pretty ****ed up there. Caracass is now te most dangerous city in this hemisphere, the crime is out of control, drugs are now rerouting thru venezuela as easy as pie!!!! The country is on the path of being one of the poorest in Sur america, which is hard to believe seeing it has always had a strong economy
