Interestingly enough most of the companies work out of the philipines, than the second largest is colombia! QUE HORIBLE!!

Sadly enough they are all american brands, I think still american companies! \

We wonder why the trade unionists keep getting killled in colombia, and why no free trade. Well that is cause our companies are killing them!! WTF!!!!

You also wonder if it wasn't for companies like this, would these poor little philipina girls have a better shot at the world. A world where they don't have to sell themselves to make up for dad"s little pay at walmart!

AT&T outsources to Mexico and Costa Rica for technical support in English and in Spanish for some of their high speed internt options. I once called tech support for issues I was having with DSL when I had their service and selected the option for spanish because the hold time was always less than waiting for english. I asked the first rep where she was, and she answered San Jose Costa Rica. I called later that day and spoke to a guy in Mexico City.

With all the bilingual latinos in the US, you would think they would hire here. NO WAY! They can pay a forth of the cost into a foreign economy.

I would love to have an iPhone, but I wont leave Verizon to go to AT&T. If I have an issue, I know when I call for help I am talking to someone here in the USA. Verizon doesnt outsource their customer service. I know they outsource some of their IT, but it is a VERY small amount.

What is free trade any way? To me it's a myth. There is on free trade. This so called free trade is a race for cheap labor from what I can see.

The Philippines is a prime opportunity for these companies because English is widely spoken and taught in the school. [India also uses English widely] The general work conditions here are bad and not only for bar girls. Normally employees are hired on six month contracts (talk about job insecurity) so after six months, no job unless the employer wants to give you another contract. When hiring it is not uncommon to see requirements like 18-26, single.

Problems are exacerbated by the government letting the Catholic Church dictate NOT to teach family planning. Thus families of sx to ten children are not uncommon and this creates a class of beggars and increases the supply of workers making it easier to pay low wages.

US companies thrive here because of the low labor cost and the generally poor working conditions.

Thats right Big E, I have spoke to the English and Spanish side, this is their first level of tech support. I have spoke to someone in Chile also. If you want someone stateside you have to ask for tier2, they are in California and Texas.

Remember earlier this year on a CNBC show when a big wig in AT&T said they could not find anyone stateside qualified to do that job and people started calling into the show. There are tons of qualified people but they want it cheap. I wouldn't surprise if some of them worked for under a dollar an hour. They tried contracting the work out to small towns in the south and midwest before that but I guess that was too much money.

I find it odd that the US government will give banks and Wall Street 700 Billion dollars to keep rich corporate executives afloat and then GM and Chrsyler ask for just 15 Billion in loans and now the REPUBLICANS in the senate are going to say no? So save the corporate executive who have ran banks into the ground but nobody cares about the working guy in Ohio making $28 an hour. Too overpaid I guess? 15 Billion is not even %5 of the 700 BN.

And people want to know what is wrong with America? I am switching my party affiliation from Republican to Independent. Both parties stink!

Good call ITK.. Unoftunately the $28 an hour guy gets paid that, but costs $70+ per hour something is wrong with that. I own a company and mange 11 people my $30 an hour guys cost $40 and they have health care, this year it looks like for all my hardwork, I will make $17 an hour, no bailout for me....

**** THEM1! My 05 ford f250 has had $10k worth of work to keep it running, 3 years old **** THEM..

I think those auto ceo's have agreed to receive $1 dollar a year salary for awhile.

Regarding buying cars. The only new car I ever bought was a 2005 nissan SER sentra. Excellent car and very quick. Unfortunately I was rear ended on the freeway a year later. The car was totaled.

Right now I have two old cars; A 1976...... and a 1983 Toy P/u camper.

Should I be sorry to say this, maybe or maybe not. I have never owned an American car. At 47 I have only had 2 car in my life, I got my first car at 21. I was the second owner of a 3 year old 1981 Volvo 242, I sold it after 17 years (285,000 miles). Today that car same car is on its 4th owner and still going strong in San Francisco. I now have a 1998 Infiniti I30T which I have owned since 2001 (second owner again).

Maybe I will buy and American car one day, look in my photo album, there is a picture of Harly Earl next to a 1938 Buick, may I'll buy that car. They don't make cars like that anymore.
