Default Hugo Chavez aka Sr. Inocente...Riiiight!

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Computer files found on a dead guerrilla leader's laptops captured in a March raid show deep ties between the Venezuelan government led by President Hugo Chavez and the communist Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.

While Chavez's sympathies for the rebel group known by the acronym FARC are well known, the files indicate Venezuela has offered to arm the rebels, possibly with rocket-propelled grenades and ground-to-air missiles, and offered FARC the use of a port to receive arms shipments, the newspaper reported.

Chavez contends the files were faked by Colombia. Bernardo Alvarez, Venezuela's Ambassador to the United States, told the Journal in an interview on Wednesday, "They are false, and an attempt to discredit the Venezuelan government."

But the newspaper cited a senior U.S. official as saying "there is complete agreement in the intelligence community that these documents are what they purport to be."

The files indicate Venezuela has raised the prospect of drawing up a joint security plan with FARC and has sought basic training in guerrilla-warfare techniques, the Journal said, suggesting Chavez was preparing for a possible U.S. invasion of Venezuela.

The newspaper said Washington's conclusions about the files could increase pressure on the United States to declare Venezuela a state sponsor of terrorism.

Tonk: Now this goes way deeper than this one article! There are many other articles related to Vz. and oil, not to mention the issues in Bolivia that Chavez has his nose stuck into, and Colombia. The US might impose sanctions, but that remains to be seen as the impact to our already sky high fuel prices would go thru the roof, among a host of other repercussions.

Let's hope this can be resolved diplomatically, but...you can't reason with an unreasonable man

In light of all the evidence linking him to the FARC he invites the Colombians to participate in production from the oil-rich Orinoco Belt in Venezuela....maybe the idea is to nationalize after development...who knows? Just gets stranger & stranger!

I find it difficult to believe anybody government when it comes to these matter, especially are own! But I think it is time the world really begins to understand chavez !! He is more reminescent of a an "Al queda" than a "CHe type revolutionary in my eyes!"
