Terrible to sat the least, but Buenaventura has always been a hot bed for drug trafficing. I wouldn't be too quick to lay the blame on the FARC anymore than I would blame the violence in Ciudad Juarez on them.

Interesting times ahead with a Presidential election coming up in Colombia.

Has anybody here ever been to Buenaventura? I think the average gringo would have to be crazy to go there. Sounds like it might be Colombia's most dangerous city, and I have read that the surrounding countryside is very dangerous.
