Default Question For The Thinkers

I just read Sedona's short post and he mentioned a man named Ron Paul and voting for him for President. Me, being the smart ass that I am, thought about saying something like, well if his name was John Paul he might have a shot. Which got me to thinking, very unusual, about John Paul II. Of course my opinion is bias, but I think that up to this point in my own life, and TRYING to be objective (Irish-Catholic), that he has been the single most positive influence in the world, again, in my lifetime. What are your thoughts, and how far off the mark am I. And this is NOT to solicit religious bashing of any sort. I am Catholic, but I am a respector of all religions. Just interested in other's views of the man.

Love - Micky

John Paul II was a very popular guy. You hardly hear anything about Pope Ratzinger. What are your views on John Paul I? I think they called him the grinnin Pope.

The Most Revd Dr. Desmond Tutu would have to get my vote of most positive figure of the century....just happened to be a religious man.

Desmond Mpilo Tutu (born 7 October 1931) is a South African cleric and activist who rose to worldwide fame during the 1980s as an opponent of apartheid. Tutu was elected and ordained the first black South African Anglican Archbishop of Cape Town, South Africa, and primate of the Church of the Province of Southern Africa (now the Anglican Church of Southern Africa). He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984. He is also a recipient of the Albert Schweitzer Prize for Humanitarianism and was also rewarded with the Magubela prize for liberty in 1986. Desmond Tutu is committed to stopping global AIDS, and has served as the honorary chairman for the Global AIDS Alliance. In February 2007 he was awarded Gandhi Peace Prize by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, president of India.
He was generally credited with coining the term Rainbow Nation as a metaphor to describe post-apartheid South Africa after 1994 under ANC rule. The expression has since entered mainstream consciousness to describe South Africa's ethnic diversity. - Wikpedia

Thumbs up Re: Question For The Thinkers

Cap' J -

I like it, very good. Gandhi, JP II, and Tutu all with a spiritual bent, professing non-violence, unity and respect. Good thing none were democrats or republicans, they would never have accomplished ****.
