Picked up original Flumi jersey at Shopping Leblon and BAM! I got Washington's autagraph right there on the spot. I bet you Flumi wins in Japan, comes back to RJ, wins again, then wins the world championship.

KILLER WASHINGTON!!!

Big E- I got $50 on Fluminense, are you up for a little wager?

Nice report on Monterrey.

Are you talking about The World Club Championship? If you are, I hate to be the one to tell you, but Manchester United will be stomping them in December IF they can beat Ecuador. Ecuador has a tough team. They beat Argentina and Mexico, and we can all agree that Club America in Mexico is a rough team. I just dont see them doing it. I would be amazed if they get that far to play in Japan in December. And IF they get that far, I dont see them taking Manchester United out. MU will play football with Washingtons head.

But to answer your question, Ill take you up on the $50 wager!

Added: Ooops... I thought they played LDU this weekend. They played them yesterday. And LDU sent them home... 4-2. What will happen in RJ?? I predict that Flu will be going home as the losing team... again.

We will see....

I hope Adela doesnt mind watching the game between Spain and Germany on Sunday, because that is what I will be doing!

A heck of a lot more stressfull, and for most gringos would be a lasting memory.

I'm with STM on this one. Like others on the board, I have had a few of 'those' experiences. The gun situation is always the most difficult.

Depending on the Perp's economic status, he might believe 'Better you dead" than reporting the incidence to the police. The lower the social strata, the cheaper life becomes.

He never pulled the gun. Though I did have one pulled on me by a drunk guy in Costa Rica once. That was honestly scary. You can't predict what a drunk will do. But I lived to tell about it, so all is good. And it wont stop me from going back.

BIg E, no way was I calling that a petty event! I have seen it all, the PETTY thing about it is that Mexico still has that kind of bull**** going on these days! Luckily it is not so common in the toursity areas! Mexico City is another ball game!

Although I have been in a similar sitution in Mexico 20 years ago! Back than it was common knowledge to be prepared to pay the local police if and when they wanted!

I paid the piper! And honestly these are situations gringos should be prepared for when travelling to less secure areas, unfortunately it is the sad truth about LAM!!!

Had it been in a better area of the city and without the thugs, I would have laughed at him and kept walking as I do when the police think they are going to play games like that in Mexico.

While living in Texas, I drove to Monterrey a couple times. More than once the police tried to pull me over. I only stopped once. Its easier to keep driving and ignore them. They give up after a few miles. People in Mexico laugh that police are like stop lights, no one respects them. The only police you really MUST obey are the federal police. And those guys wont rob you anyway. If they ask you to do something, just do it. They will rough you up in a heart beat.

Oh well, **** happens. Its ok though, life goes on.
