Default preparing to move

ok, call us crazy - or just different (your choice).
my wife and i are going to move to mexico when i retire next year. sorry, u.s., but i cannot afford to stay. we are looking at a remote area south of
minititlan - which nobody probably ever heard of (suits us). need help mostly in the area of housing - who to contact and (mostly) who to trust.
lots of info online, but not much substance to it. can anyone lend a hand?

Im surprised you got no replies! Welcome to the board.

I have been to various parts of Veracruz but never to Minititlan. I do have a friend in Xalapa I could probably put you in contact with.

Why did you pick Minititlan? What attracted you to that part of Mexico?

thanks for the reply and welcome.
like i said, any help would be appreciated. we were atracted to the area for many reasons. less crowded, more open land, simple life. not that we don't like people, just not crowds of people. the area is close enough to historic sites without the "tourist" closeness. our income will be limited, so price is definately a big factor. we don't require much to live at a standard which suits us. we currently live "in the woods" as our friends put it - a few acres of woods where we only cleared out a quarter acre (and left the rest to mother nature). we are looking at a town called jesus carranza as it seems to be the closest to what we like. besides, it's also close to guatemala which, we would also like to visit.

OK BIG E

I need your expertise, I know of your problem with Mexico a year or so ago, but, If you have any information, give me your opinion of the difference between the Lake Chapala (near Guadalajara) area and living in Colombia, I'm getting bored, and the weather is going to be getting cold here in a month or so, so I may need to escape for a while.
