Thinking of myself? Yes and and everyone else I believe. Take the money out of drugs by making them legal would stop billions....yes billions from being used to tear up countries all over the world. The do gooders supporting these laws are supporting the crooks who want this to keep on going, you are not going to stop the drug trade any more than the booze, cigarettes and all the other vices. Take the illegal trade out and many of the problems in the world would go away. They do it with cigs & booze. Educate and set up programs to help the addicted, a couple days of the cost of fighting the way we are doing it now should pay. Now who is thinking of themselves?

I said for yourself, not of yourself.

When will we learn. You can never solve a demand problem by trying to limit supply. There are 2 ways to stop demand. 1) When a drug shipment is seized lace it with arsenic and let it go on its way. If enough people die immediately from use and it effects everyone that uses it, then most of the marginal users will stop, new users won't begin and addicts will eventually die out. 2) Much tougher laws on the users.

I am a believer in legalizing marijuana. I believe in all personal freedoms that do not encrouch on others freedoms.

So we have limited legal marijuana in a number of places in the US. And Portugal has removed the threat of jail for all drug users. It has done so for 6 years now. Here's a report of the situation after 5 years.

So we have a situation to look at and evaluate what happens when you stop criminalizing drug use.

The US has the HIGEST prison population per 100k in the world.

Do not expect changes soon though. The Drug prevention, legal establishment, and prison industrial complex has a lot of money directed their way concerning the ‘War on Drugs’. They will not give up that revenue stream quietly.

"The United States has 5 percent of the world's population and 25 percent of the world's incarcerated population."
