New book reveals the use of plants in the Amazon forests

Amazon forest contains fruits and plants that can improve peoples diets, claims report

Plants and fruits from Amazonian forests can be used to improve people’s diets and livelihoods, according to a new study published by the United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).

The report, Fruit Trees and Useful Plants in Amazonian Life, argues that forests in South America should be managed in a sustainable way and marks the International Year of Forests. [click to continue…]
